German-style wheat ale. Mit hefe (with yeast) this cloudy, classic German ale is light in body yet big in flavor. Lots of clove and a bit of banana make a big aromatic presence

22 oz bottle, from brewpub. Pours a cloudy orangish gold body under a very fleeting fizzy white head that vanished almost completely. The nose is a slightly sour smelling wheat with a hefty dose of doughy yeast. A little caramel sweetness, and a hint of bubblegum. The flavor is quite sweet with minimal yeast influence. Too much risidual sweetness. Seems like a little yeast autolysis may have occured. Mouthfeel is way too heavy and thick for a Hefe, lots of heavy doughy stickiness. This is pretty horrorshow for a Hefe. This could pass for a bad Wheat Wine it’s so thick and heavy.

Draught pint at Portsmouth 5/27/06. Pours a nice clear golden color with a slight haze and a foamy bright white head. Nose is lightly peppery and lemony. Some banana notes and fresh citrus. Palate is smooth and full. Flavor notes of bananan up front with some light peppery and coriander notes in the finish.

Pours a caramalized sugar color wth blonde highlights throughout leaving a small white head. The aroma is fig, banana fruit, small amounts of citrus, cloves with a similar smell to "Mr. Clean" in a good way. The taste is buttery and malty starts with a fruit background followed by a wheat, grainey taste then takes you to very light honey hop mild carbonated finish. Very nice Hefe, I find it nice and true to the style.

On draught at the brewpub, 5/21/2005 with Muzzlehatch. Golden-brass colored beer, only lightly hazy, quickly receding white head, lightly bubbly, no lacing. Aroma is quite dry, with old banana bread, dry maltiness and hints of spice. Flavor is rather basic, some light banana mixed with water, little bit of bubblegum as it finishes. Just too watery, ultimately. Very dry on the finish, I like Barry’s suggestion of tarragon. Medium body, low carbonation towards the end.

Sampled at the brewpub in the company of the munificent and mysterious Mr. ClarkVV. Medium amber-gold, a bit hazy but clearer than some of the other samples, surprisingly...minimal head/ring of foam...soft banana-clove nose, quite typical and unoriginal...banana-bread and bubblegum in the body, full texture to start but quite watery late, some sourdough and perhaps a hint of tarragon to finish. Reasonably well put together but pedestrian.
