2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 swoopjones (4221) - Buffalo, New York, USA - SEP 4, 2011
Draft at Portsmouth brewery. Deeper golden pour, grassy and sauvignon blanc like wineiness in aroma. Wineiness really carries over into flavor. Grassyn grapiness. Floral and dry fruitiness. Ok
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 eaglefan538 (2778) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - APR 3, 2011
Bottle courtesy doulos/goodgrief. Pour was light straw colored, thin head. The aroma was straw, some grass, sweet caramel. The flavor was caramel, bubblegum (a little off for the style, maybe toasted marshmallows captures it too), slight astringency, grassy hops in the finish. Mouthfeel is fairly full for the style, on the malty side, a tad too malty perhaps. A decent example of the style, though, just looking for more crispness, although the reviewers below seemed to all find enough crispness.

Bottle. Clear, dirty straw color.. Grainy flavor, grassy...just the wat one of these should be. A little oversweet finish . Still, pretty good example and pretty enjoyable.

Golden pour from a bottle
Aroma is clean, grassy, some toasted maltiness. Very drinkable, mouthfeel is crisp, clean. Light sweetness from toasted malt up front with some light bitter grassiness on the finish. Leaves a pleasant lingering grassiness as well, crisp and refreshing. Pretty much what I was expecting.

Draught sampler at the brewery. Much better than expected kolsch (typically I find them bland). Pretty snappy and tasty for the style, with a stronger than expected hop profile. Easy drinking.

Champagne-like color and dryness; just enough malt to keep me going. Not great, but interesting. On tap at the pub.
