COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A robust, Irish-style stout with 75 pounds of rolled and steel-cut oats included in the mash. The oats add a creamy texture and velvety smoothness that help round out the roasted barley bite. Served nitrogen-conditioned for a thick, frothy head.

Draft at the brewpub - Poured a quite dark black/brown in color with a medium tan head that hung around. Nice lacing on the glass. Aroma was of darkly roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. Flavor was strong with coffee and chocolate dominating. Bitter to finish. Oatmeal provided a really nice "creamy" palate. Very good...

(Rating #1698)

My Bottom Line:
Roasted coffee beans and chocolate envelop the oats in this chewy and amenable Oatmeal Stout.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-Generous foam sits atop the brown-sleeved black.
-The body is lovely on this one and never feels artificially inflated.
-The roasted malts provide ample bitterness in the back, which is perfect to cut back on the malty sweetness.
-The overall flavor profile is not necessarily complex, but it is highly efficient in reaching its objectives.

On tap at the brewpub.

Draft at the brewery. Pours pitch black in color with big foamy brown head. Aroma chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. Taste dark chocolate, coffee and roasted malt, with bitter and oats finish.

Bomber thanks to Hophead75. Pours a deep dark brown almost black with a nice frothy head. Aroma is nutty chocolate and nice dull roasted malts- some coffee hints. Good nutty chocoalte flavor with some nice light drying leatherand some light anise flavor- toffee and light sweetness but more chocolate in the end. Relatively smooth but a bit high in the carbonation and a bit fizzy. Went well with some samoas cookies.

Bomber bottle from mcox90 and served in my Stone IRS snifter: Nearly opaque with a fading creamy head which left spotty lace upon the glassware. The aroma has notes of oatmeal, toasted and charred malt, milk chocolate, prune, molasses, and some grassy hops. The taste starts with equal parts of chocolate, oat, ripened fleshy fruit and some coffee. There is a hit of smoke and grassy bitter upon the finish. The mouth feel is smooth and sprite, a very easy drinking beer and matched the flavor profile very well. The top notch stout that is worthy of try indeed. Mikey Likey.

Combined rating of on tap at brewpub and 22 oz bottle purchased at brewpub. Pours a jet black with a tan head. Minimal lacing. Nose is roasted malts and sweet caramel. Mouthfeel is creamy and sort of heavy. Just right for the style. Taste is sweet, but not cloyingly so. Caramel, malt and oatmeal cookie. Well balanced with just a touch of bitterness. Very good.

Served on tap at the brewery. In no uncertain terms, this is the best oatmeal stout I have ever had. The body is jet black with a thick white head. Amazing sweet caramel smells pour from the glass and make it impossible to resist. The flavor does not disappoint at all even with such a great aroma. Caramel and chocolate are balanced with some roasty character and the package is clothed in smooth creaminess. The body is decently heavy but if I had to make a complaint, it would be that it wasn’t quite heavy enough. An amazing beer all around.

on nitro at the brewery. Black in color with a creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, light roast, somewhat muted because of the nitro. Taste is creamy with a silky body- chocolate, moderate roastyness. Finishes with light lingering sugar and moderate bitter roast.
