Commercial Description:
Bottle; Filtered.
Post Road Pumpkin Ale is a revival of a beer brewed by the early American colonists. Pumpkins were plentiful, flavorful and nutritious and they blended nicely with barley malt. Hundreds of pumpkins are blended into each batch of Post Road Pumpkin Ale, creating a beer with an orange amber color, warm pumpkin aroma, biscuity malt center and crisp finish. Post Road Pumpkin Ale is spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg.

Bottle. Clear amber with a white head. Aroma of pumpkin, spices, and sweet malt. Flavor is the same, nice pumpkin but lacks a little balance. Dry finish with high carbonation. Middle-of-the-road pumpkin ale.

Overall Impression: Pretty Standard Pumpkin, you’ve had it before. Better then a Jack’s or a Blue Moon certainly, but nothing special.

12oz bottle: Reddish gold pour with a fantastic pillow top head that laces all the way down. Looks like an autumn beer to me. The nose lots in the spice department - cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice immediately come to mind. Some deeper whiffs reveal ginger, white pepper and lemon zest. An interesting mix. The body adds a nice caramel malt sweetness to the mix, but could be a bit beefier to stand up to the heavy spices. Dries nicely on the tongue, almost becoming a bit chalky. Good.

Bottle. Clear amber body with short, off-white head, mostly diminishing. Spicy nose of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove with hints of caramel and malt. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes like a lightly spiced pumpkin pie. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body , watery texture and lively carbonation. Clean, crisp.

Not bad spices. Certainly not weak in that respect, but the body was weak and insubstantial, just watery on the finish and kind of dry/bland. But the pumpkin/cinnamon/nutmeg character was there and not too shabby.

12 fl. oz. bottle from LCBO, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. DE16/08.

App.: Clear deep amber with a smallish white head. Aroma: Lots of ginger and clove, some molasses, like a spice cookie, some caramel and sweet malts, slightly buttery, butterscotch (diacetyl?). Palate: Medium body and carbonation. Flav.: Like the nose but slightly less spice, less malt, slightly more butter; dry (seems like it should be sweeter), basically no bitterness.

Fair for the style I guess.

dchmela gave this to me at the Superbowl party. Not bad. Orange color (imagine that). Felt like a carbonated soda. Nice allspice and pumpkin aroma. Cool cinnamon and sugar hints in the taste.

Bottle from my cousin Sam. Orangish color with an almost white head. Aroma is full of pumpkin pie. Flavor is also loaded with pumpkin pie flavors but has some lemon notes and a tiny bit of bitterness. Good pumpkin beer.
