Commercial Description:
Bottle; Filtered.
Post Road Pumpkin Ale is a revival of a beer brewed by the early American colonists. Pumpkins were plentiful, flavorful and nutritious and they blended nicely with barley malt. Hundreds of pumpkins are blended into each batch of Post Road Pumpkin Ale, creating a beer with an orange amber color, warm pumpkin aroma, biscuity malt center and crisp finish. Post Road Pumpkin Ale is spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg.

I’m not usually into fruity (or vegetably) beers, but the level of pumpkin in this one was just right. A very nice, clean, and slightly pumpkiny aroma. It ran a little thin on flavor and a was fairly unremarkable. Drinkable, but not very. I wasn’t aching for a second. The level of pumpkin was good, though, not overpowering.

darkish orange/brown appearance with a decent white head. nose is just of subtle pumpkins, not prominnent. flavor is somewhat tangy with some malt characteristics but very little pumpkin and no noticeable hop component. unique tasting but not in a positive way. not a good beer, slightly better than buffalo bill’s as far as pumpkin brews go.

The aroma and taste did not wuite make sense. At first was more bitter than expected, alcohol content noticeable, but is growing on me and I taste the nutmeg aftertaste rather than the bitterness.

Picked up a 6-er at Publix to kick off the first October day of the year. Pours a light amber with a small rim of tan head. Frothy lacing. The aroma is airey with subtle notes of cinnamon and a pulpy squash that could be pumpkin. On flavor, the pumpkin is slightly more pronounced and conjoined with herbal spices typical of the season. Nutmeg and allspice come to mind. A confusingly thin body and medium/full carbonation are slightly off-balanced. Although refreshing, this brew could’ve benefited from more hops character in the body. All in all, drinkable.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clean, clear amber. Smallish white head. Aroma of cinnamon and nutmeg. Mouthfeel much the same. The pumpkin spices are quite nice. Good October brew.

Bottle. Clear orange with a small head. Aroma of pie spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, etc.) Taste was pretty much the same, couldn’t taste a whole lot of pumpkin. But the spices didn’t dominate the malt. So it’s an O.K. October beer.

Bottle. Pretty dry and spicy aroma with notes of some round orange squash. Flavor was similar but actually rather bitter due to the spicing and the dry finish. Would have liked a more ale-like body with these flavors.

The only real flavor was from the pumpkin and spice mix which, while not unpleasant, wasn’t enough to make this beer worth it. Otherwise it was a watery failure of a beer with some flavor added. It did have a bubbly copper appearance that made you want to drink it and the aroma was pleasing, but the taste just didn’t live up to these features. At least it was drinkable.
