Commercial Description:

Post Road Pumpkin Ale is a revival of a beer brewed by the early American colonists. Pumpkins were plentiful, flavorful and nutritious and they blended nicely with barley malt. Hundreds of pumpkins are blended into each batch of Post Road Pumpkin Ale, creating a beer with an orange amber color, warm pumpkin aroma, biscuity malt center and crisp finish. Post Road Pumpkin Ale is spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg.

On tap at the brewery. Probably the best pumpkin ale I’ve had. Poured copper-colored with a thin white head. Sweet aroma of spices including nutmeg and cinnamon, maybe the faintest hint of cloves? Spicy taste full of pumpkin flavor, very enjoyable. Perfect for those autumn days.

Pours an amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is of pumpkin, nutmeg, sweet malts, yeast, and some slight floral hops. Flavor starts off with the nutmeg and pumpkin then gives way to the sweet malts, yeast, and floral hops. Doesn’t have too much of an aftertaste but it’s mostly the nutmeg and pumpkin. A decent brew even though I’m not really a big fan of pumpkin ales.

This is my favorit pumpkin ale. Many pumpkin ales are too sweet or taste too strongly of pumkin spice. This one is nicely balanced. It tastes like a beer (a relatively good beer), but you can tell that there is a bit of pumpkin pie, some cloves, and maybe even some nutmeg in there. When you smell it there is just a hint of pumpkin spice. The taste is also relatively crisp, so you don’t get a lot of aftertaste. While a pumpkin beer isn’t something you want to drink every day, this one sure does hit the spot in the autumn months. My rating may be higher than it deserves for that reason alone.

a better than average autumn seasonal. pumpkin flavor is faint, also detected typical spices, cinnamon, some ginger...there are both better and much worse pumpkin beer attempts out there, try it out.

Bottle. Transparent orange pour with a white head. Like most pumpkin brews there’s an overwhelming amount of clove and cinnamon with some pumpkin as well and not a whole lot else. The flavors are similar with the spices standing out with nothing under it to support it. Spicy mouthfeel...undercarbonated with a dry finish.

Bottled. A dark copper coloured beer with a nice enough off-white coloured head. The aroma is spicy with clear notes of cinnamon and nutmeg. A little phenolic also. The taste is also spicy and warming. A bit of a chili kick amidst the cinnamon. Tasty and drinkable.

Great stuff. All-spice, berry, clove, cinnimon, and of course pumpkin. They really pulled off the fall style on this one. Looks appatizing with a good sized white head atop a clear burgundy body. Nice medium bodied beer. You really have to like spicy fall beers to enjoy this one.

this is one of my favorite beers. truly. how can you beat the aroma, the tones, the flavor, the aftertaste, the appearance. I leave in the northeast, so i’m steeped in autumnal things, pumpkins, leaves, damp fall weather... maybe that’s what makes this so good, it is part of the season. Great beer, especially by itself, after dinner, for a few tips.
