Commercial Description:
Bottle; Filtered.
Post Road Pumpkin Ale is a revival of a beer brewed by the early American colonists. Pumpkins were plentiful, flavorful and nutritious and they blended nicely with barley malt. Hundreds of pumpkins are blended into each batch of Post Road Pumpkin Ale, creating a beer with an orange amber color, warm pumpkin aroma, biscuity malt center and crisp finish. Post Road Pumpkin Ale is spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg.

Bottled. A dark copper coloured beer with a nice enough off-white coloured head. The aroma is spicy with clear notes of cinnamon and nutmeg. A little phenolic also. The taste is also spicy and warming. A bit of a chili kick amidst the cinnamon. Tasty and drinkable.

Great stuff. All-spice, berry, clove, cinnimon, and of course pumpkin. They really pulled off the fall style on this one. Looks appatizing with a good sized white head atop a clear burgundy body. Nice medium bodied beer. You really have to like spicy fall beers to enjoy this one.

this is one of my favorite beers. truly. how can you beat the aroma, the tones, the flavor, the aftertaste, the appearance. I leave in the northeast, so i’m steeped in autumnal things, pumpkins, leaves, damp fall weather... maybe that’s what makes this so good, it is part of the season. Great beer, especially by itself, after dinner, for a few tips.

Pie-spice and baked pumpkin aroma very much like a pie. Medium strength flavor and body, very clean and drinkable. Nice color. Enjoy it warmed up with fresh whipped cream.

Bottle. Reddish amber beer with a good strong head. The aroma is fruity/spiced winter berries, rather like Christmas pudding, and the flavour is quite syrupy dry with a slightly intense bitter finish. Overall a nice beer.

360ml bottle from BeersOfEurope. Filtered and carbonated like a lager. The base beer lacks interest but is clean enough with a soft sweetness. Most of the interest comes from the blend of spices which work well enough giving a pleasant woody warmth. The sweet pumpkin used in the brew adds no real character and is mainly added so the brewer can claim this is made with pumpkin. Though there is some documentary evidence that early American brewers did occasionally use sweet pumpkins as a fermentation material, the beers they were making back then were dark beers in the style of porters, and didn’t contain the spices that are such a feature of this brew - as such the blurb is very spurious and should be regarded as fanciful and romantic rather than accurate.
