Commercial Description:
Bottle; Filtered.
Post Road Pumpkin Ale is a revival of a beer brewed by the early American colonists. Pumpkins were plentiful, flavorful and nutritious and they blended nicely with barley malt. Hundreds of pumpkins are blended into each batch of Post Road Pumpkin Ale, creating a beer with an orange amber color, warm pumpkin aroma, biscuity malt center and crisp finish. Post Road Pumpkin Ale is spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg.

This was a 12 oz. bottle from Joe McPhee. Thanks Joe. Pours a clear light orange color with a small white head that left good lacing Nose of caramel malts, pumpkin, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Light mouthfeel but very smooth. . Flavor of pumpkin but there are lots of other nuances including cinnamon and nutmeg. Mild sweet finish. Quite decent,

A: Pours a nice dark golden brown color. The head is rather large and rises quickly. It slowly fades to a mere ring, which is fed by a slow steady stream of bubbles. S: Nice pumpkin pie aroma. Notes of canned pumpkin married to lots of pumpkin pie spices like nutmeg, clove, and cinnamon. T: Nice dry ale with the taste of pumpkin and the above noted spices. It finishes with a tiny bitter bite, like raw cinnamon powder on the tongue. It is a nice easy drinking beer but is not in the upper tier of pumpkin brews. M: Light in body. Ho Hum.

Bottle. Pours medium-dark brown with a slight orange tinge and a medium white head. Aroma of pumpkin and its associated spices, clove, nutmeg. Flavor is pumpkin and spices. The spices are very potent and overpower the beer making it taste like pumpkin pie or pumpkin bread; it’s hard to tell that it is beer at all. Overall it’s decent, but there are better pumpkin ales out there.

Aroma has some vegetable character with some faint pumpkin and mellow spice. Flavor is slight and mostly spice and not much actual pumpkin. Thin body and weak for a pumpkin.

12 oz. bottle from Ludlow Wines. Pours a clear amber color with a small white head that leaves a film on the beer all the way down. Aroma of nutmeg, cinammon, caramel, honey, and apple- it smells a lot like pumpkin pie. Flavor of apple, mild spices- cinnamon, nutmeg, and other fall spices- stale apples, sweet malts. Light bodied, with an apple juice mouthfeel. Too thin and watered down. Most of the spice comes across in the nose. Cinammon and nutmeg finish.

Somewhat lively clear pumpkin orange with a medium off-white head that leaves a ring of lace. Aroma of ripe pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon and malt, strongly spiced overall. Taste of cinnamon and nutmeg, burnt malt and very mild pumpkin. A touch aqueous and kind of bland, except on the finish where I get a spice tongued aftertaste.

Bottle, Rehills, Newcastle. Didn’t know what to expect from this, not having sampled pumpkin before. Spice is subtle but detectable in the nose and on the back of the throat. Soft bitterness and a slight sharp fruit flavour, a mixture of many things with no one character really standing out.
