Commercial Description:
Bottle; Filtered.
Post Road Pumpkin Ale is a revival of a beer brewed by the early American colonists. Pumpkins were plentiful, flavorful and nutritious and they blended nicely with barley malt. Hundreds of pumpkins are blended into each batch of Post Road Pumpkin Ale, creating a beer with an orange amber color, warm pumpkin aroma, biscuity malt center and crisp finish. Post Road Pumpkin Ale is spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg.

[bottle] Spicy, earthy aroma with some nutmeg and cinnamon. Clear, dark amber color with some minimal lacing. Flavors are malty, with the standard pumpkin pie spices dominating. Spicy finish, with some hop character and slight residual sweetness. Medium bodied.

Has a clear light red and bronze pour with white and off-white creamy bubbles, some effervescence, left nice bubbly lacing on the sides of the glass, aroma of cinnamon and nutmeg with faint vegetable-pumpkin and malt fragrances, some whiffs of pepper in the background, flavor of spices with fainter malt and pumpkin-vegetable, some malt sweetness, spices give some pepper on the palate along with the bitterness at the finish, easy to drink, medium mouth feel, one of the more enjoyable pumpkin ales I have tried, I found the spices to be a bit more assertive then the malt and pumpkin in aroma and flavor but pretty well balanced, has a nice presentation, the spices did not trounce my senses like some pumpkin beers, one to try if you haven’t.

12oz bottle. Pours a bright orange color with a small head that quickly dissipates to a ring. The aroma is of nutmeg, cinammon, cloves and squash. The taste follows suit, with a malt presence and some lemony hops that prove a little more assertive. Slight pumpkin flavor comes through. The mouthfeel is quite full and carbonated. The finish is long and spicy.

This beer was sent to me by beeradvocate spiritdeus as part of a trade. I sampled it right after Buffalo Bill’s Pumpkin Ale to provide a contrast. This beer poured a clear orange yellow in color, with mild carbonation and a thin, but durable head. The aroma was very subtly spiced, with a delicate mix of cinnamon and nutmeg. The taste was creamy and a bit on the sweet side. There was a hint of pumpkin, but the resinous hops and the biscuity malts were balancing it quite nicely. The spices blended in and faded out as session wore on. The mouthfeel was nicely dry and roasty and did not convey a watered down impression at all. A sessionable charming beer that is quite different from the hop monsters I usually crave, but a quality brew nonetheless.

A bit of spice and vegetable, but mostly tastes like ordinary beer! Dry, earthy aftertaste and a great, full body, but generally underwhelming. Some metallic notes in the finish as well.

Pour is a clear orange with a big white head.Aroma of spice and pumpkin. Weak cinimon, pumpkin and caramel in the flavor. Pretty weak body and undewhelming.

I have to say I was a bit apprehensive when I saw this beer, but it is pretty good. It has a nice amber color with a little cloudiness (if that is a word). It has a heavy smell of the spices kind of like pumpkin pie. The taste is much like the smell, pumpkin pie, with a crisp bitterness. Overall pretty good for a fuity/spice beer, not my favorite, but pretty good.

Bottle: "typical" pumpkin ale, subtle pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon spice flavors. Tastey session beer.
