Post Road Pumpkin Ale is a revival of a beer brewed by the early American colonists. Pumpkins were plentiful, flavorful and nutritious and they blended nicely with barley malt. Hundreds of pumpkins are blended into each batch of Post Road Pumpkin Ale, creating a beer with an orange amber color, warm pumpkin aroma, biscuity malt center and crisp finish. Post Road Pumpkin Ale is spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg.

I didn’t care for this, but then I’m probably not a good judge, since I don’t like "spicy" beers (Wits, Weizens, Christmas brews, etc.) Couldn’t detect any pumpkin flavor. Strong nutmeg aftertaste. Tasted like a standard lager with pumpkin pie spice tossed in.

Aroma of spices and some cinnamon. Orange amber color...thin head. Faint malty sweetness up front. Spices are somewhat muted initially. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and candies mixed in. Not that sweet, unlike other pumpkin beers. Finish has a dry bitterness...lingers a bit. Somewhat chalky mouth feel. Meh.

Several 12oz bottles and samples spread over 10-11/2014 workshops and tastings. The nutmeg and cinnamon waft forth from the bottle as artificial aromas, as if from a plastic-wrapped Bahlsen pumkin cake. Drinks vaguely spicy on a crisp, almost too clean and thin Vienna-like palate, with some 3rd party maltiness coming in as it warms, where it develops an (orchard) fruity sweetness. Slightly astringent veg peel finish, where the hops decide to join in. Overall too faint and artificial compared to what pumpkin can do in terms of mouthfeel, body and aroma in small-batch or homebrew beers. If need be I would prefer a chunkier pumpkin ale at a slightly higher abv.

Bottle from a deli in Glasgow. Pours amber with a cream head. The aroma a pumpkin and cinnamon. A little too vegatable. The taste is a little odd. Cinamon and spiciness alongside some acidic notes. There’s a vegetable edge to it again. The body is thin. Interesting but not great.

Very Nice pumpkin beer here. Copper colored with mild lacing on the glass. Very nice pumpkin smell with just the right amount of spice. I rated this beer high for a pumpkin ale but not as high in the pallet section. Nice going down with just a mild better after taste. My favorite pumpkins are Screamin Pumpkin by Griffins Claw followed by Dogfish Head Punkin Ale and Ichabod. Cheers to you! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Alengrin (2431) - BELGIUM - NOV 25, 2014
Typical American pumpkin beer with off-white, dense, sticky head which dissolves quickly and remains stable only around the edge; colour a pretty deep orange blond with brownish hue, clear. Strong cloves aroma, pumpkin soup, cinnamon, orange peel, carrots, meat broth, mango, whisky. Soft fruity taste, mango and peach, orange, quick and long spiciness (retronasal cloves), white pepper touch in the finish, a little bit metallic, pumpkin soup again, grassy and citrussy hop finish, biscuity too. Interesting.
