Post Road Pumpkin Ale is a revival of a beer brewed by the early American colonists. Pumpkins were plentiful, flavorful and nutritious and they blended nicely with barley malt. Hundreds of pumpkins are blended into each batch of Post Road Pumpkin Ale, creating a beer with an orange amber color, warm pumpkin aroma, biscuity malt center and crisp finish. Post Road Pumpkin Ale is spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg.

Pours amber with a creme colored head. Spicy, strong aroma but a balanced malty and hop taste. Flavor could have used some more spices for a pumpkin ale but went done easily. Good beer for 50% off due to the chronological distance from October.

Bottle. Absolutely gorgeous deep ambery copper colour, completely translucent and almost glowing. Aroma is packed with cinnamon and nutmeg as promised, as well as a fudgy vanilla. Taste is not as sweet as could be feared, but is instead nicely balanced between a rich nutty malt base and a dry spice finish. Interesting and quite enjoyable.

@bartlebier’s and oldmanriver’s comprehensive beer seminar. Aniseed, fennel, piment, nutmeg nose, tastes sweet and dull with similar features. My first pumpin ale, guess it’s not my glass of beer.

Pours clear copper thin white head with no lacing. Aroma is low caramel and spicy cinnamon. Flavor is light bready malt with some subtle spicing. Pretty mild as pumpkin beers go, nothing really stands out about it.
