Medium beige head. Lovely reddish coppery body. Fruity earthy malty roasty aroma, impressively harmonic, with grassy hoppy cinnamon notes. Dry-sweetish earthy roasty malty taste with caramelly notes. Mild, smoothish mouthfeel. Mid-bodied. Dry earthy toffeeish aftertaste with grassy metallic notes. Very nice, highly drinkable. (0.5l bottle from some Kiel supermarket.)

UPDATED: NOV 11, 2005 500 ml screwcap bottle, bought in Bier Spezi Hamburg. Typical dunkel reddish brown colour, decent pale greyish brown head. Pleasant malty sweet aroma with notes of caramel, toast and bakery. Mellow nutty flavour with notes of dark bread and caramel, tolerable hops for a dunkel (Hallertau, Spalt and Tettnang). Nice.

"There it drives the clutch with a terry towel which the girl in the dress with a tight bodice and full skirt brings to the far-traveled messenger, who sits on the course horse and not on the support, Zen Buddhist style. Well then Prost. Not like that ragbag gypsy, the label is the modern turning catch, which may quite have advantages however for modern messengers. At least nothing is lost from the good wet during the transport of the opened bottle. Effusively the Hallertauer hop is praised, and that not too wrongly, because he ... determines the taste, smell and flavour and thus the actual character of the beer. The Postwirt's darkness a first law of lychees beer with an unusual character is actual. Those surprisingly fresh notes comes unexpectedly, thinks one with a dark beer nevertheless rather of winter-outlawed and Santa Claus. In addition the flaked rice and eggs seem already far traveled, because for a Bavarian dark the Nesselwanger is herb-like; one rather from North Germans a Pils would in such a way expect. The smell goes again into the Malzige and reminds of the Vita of the same name. If the whole surprises put, one can now back-lean and let the made experiences with a second Postwirt's darkness sag. Result: There the post office goes off." Nuff said.

Pours out cloudy dark brown with steady creamy head and medium to smooth body. Nose of malt and bread. Taste of dark grains, leaves, malt, caramel and apples. Well balanced carbonation makes it combined with the mild, smooth taste easy and nice to drink. Solid beer.
