3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled (BB 12/2006)
Ruby red, big brown steady head. Aroma has toffee and oak. Taste is quite similar: dry woody with berry-like sweetness. Mouthfeel is quite thin and carbonated and alcohol is not very present. Some cold coffee and roast in the aftertaste. Solid brew but quite straightforward dubbel.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A deep red beer with a huge orange-brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of berries (strawberries, red currant et.al.), wood, and is quite sweet. The flavor is sweet with notes of berries (somewhat artificial), spices - some cinnamon, and a little wood. The mouthfeel is quite carbonated - with the bubbles bursting on the tongue. The alcohol really doesn’t kick in until after You swallow, then it leaves You with a warmth in the mouth combined with a dryness and notes of berries.

Light amber color with a beige head. The taste is fruity with light spicy notes. Has light nutty and a slight metallic or alcohol sharpness on the palate. Comes off a litle thin.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Light sweet malt aroma, with some licorice and chocolate. Some hops, but otherwise a weak overall aroma. Dark red-brown, slight haze, with thin foamy light tan lacing head. Medium watery body with medium carbonation. Starts with carbonic burn on the tongue, mild sweet malt notes, though more of an afterthought, and some light acidity. Dry roasted notes with medium bitterness for the finish, watery. After is medium bitter, with roasted nuttiness. Slightly chalky.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Gushing to ludicrously huge, yellow-beige head with confluent bubbles; some amount of red-brown ale underneath. Meaty, yeasty nose with brown malts, tip of sulphur, smells of cattlefeed. Chocolatey, bitterish taste, some hops there. Finish is a bit sourish, very slightly so. The malts are there, but the bitterish-roasted onset, and the end acidity take away all sweetimpression. Bit fatty MF, fatty acids? Medium bodied, reasonably dry. Ho-hum dubbel. I wonder about all the strange insertions;

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(Bottled) Very nice, hazy deep dark red/amber color with a smallish but tight, light brown head. Malty, caramely and toffeeish aroma with some scotch ale and German doppelbock feeling. Sweetish, malty flavor with anise and lemon. Medium-bodied, foamy and quite carbonated, slightly thin palate. A very good-looking dubbel with a nice aroma and quite ok flavor. Palate is a big let-down: too carbonated and thin. Maybe it was too cold, but the carbonation doesn’t usually decrease with temperature...

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle conditioned bought in Nujmegen (NL)
Very dark brown in colour, the kind of fluffy head that mkes you grin (yeah really) Taste was a bit of a let down to be honest. Could be a bit ’thicker’ with more going on in it, but not a bad beer by any stretch.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice dobbel. At first a lot of citrus in the aroma, later the citrus is gone, and some malt and laqurice appear in the flavor. To thin.
