UPDATED: AUG 30, 2009 Bottle. A clear, amber beer with a dense, finger-thick off-white head. Fresh and dried fruits on the aroma, some cellar and spices and a little fruityness reminiscent of papaya. Dried fruits, some fresh fruits and a little spicyness in the flavor. Spiced, caramel finish. Medium to full, quite effervescent mouthfeel. Far from world class, but a decent dubbel. 090619

1999 bottle at Kulminator, best before August 2001. Dark brown with a smallish, but perfectly steady, beige, creamy head. Tart fruity raisins aroma, dry dusty cellar character. Chocolate, raisins, cellar and a slight hint of metal towards the finish. Still quite fizzy, but probably lost some body during the years. Very good.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 harrisoni (9608) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - SEP 8, 2008
Bottle from Dranken Geers. Russet, thin beige head. Some Belgian yeast on aroma. Some syrupy dry malt. It’s not a great dubbel, to be honest. Bit too sweet and the malt tastes as though it hasn’t been fully attenuated. Bit of candy sugar. I’m not against it, nor does it taste nasty, but it’s a little basic maybe. Some butter/toffee.

Bottle. A very mediocre dubbel, a bit on the malty and brown sugar sweet side, some dark fruits. Dry mouthfeel.
