Gusler (2656), Tucson, Arizona, USA Mar 3, 2002 Beautiful ruby brown color, large beige head, fair lace. Nose is sweet, malt, butter scotch and quite appealing. Sweet front, the top is medium, the carbonation moderate, and slightly acidic, nice hop presence at the fairly dry finish. Nice beer, and well worth the effort to find and sample.
thebeertourist (1879), Oslo, Norway Sep 20, 2008 1999 bottle at Kulminator, best before August 2001. Dark brown with a smallish, but perfectly steady, beige, creamy head. Tart fruity raisins aroma, dry dusty cellar character. Chocolate, raisins, cellar and a slight hint of metal towards the finish. Still quite fizzy, but probably lost some body during the years. Very good. harrisoni (5331), Ashford, Kent, England Sep 8, 2008 Bottle from Dranken Geers. Russet, thin beige head. Some Belgian yeast on aroma. Some syrupy dry malt. It’s not a great dubbel, to be honest. Bit too sweet and the malt tastes as though it hasn’t been fully attenuated. Bit of candy sugar. I’m not against it, nor does it taste nasty, but it’s a little basic maybe. Some butter/toffee. Borresteijn (582), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 14, 2008 Bottle. A very mediocre dubbel, a bit on the malty and brown sugar sweet side, some dark fruits. Dry mouthfeel. BoBoChamp (722), Gent, Belgium Aug 4, 2008 33cl, from Geers Oostakker, complex, yet easy to drink, hazy, good head, good brew note666 (223), Eindhoven, Netherlands Jul 26, 2008 330 ml bottle. amber brown colour. off white head. sweet fruity aroma and taste.
