3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Monk’s Pub, Chicago. Healthy looking reddish brown body with a thin head. At this strength, that’s no surprise. Thankfully this has not been overloaded with pumpkin pie spice. Instead, there’s a mild spice that makes way for some warming alcohol notes. Comes across like a Belgian dubbel with just a bit of horseblanket. Taste is pretty malty. If they say it’s got "carmelized" baked pumpkin, then the squash may be adding to the fermentables. Result is a nice, warming beer with some thick body and full flavor. Spices do come in at the end to show support.

On tap at Sugar Maple. Copper with a thin tan head. Excellent aroma of pumpkin, vanilla, oak, nutmeg, caramel, rye, whiskey and some peated malts. Taste is sweet and spicy with vanilla, caramel, pumpkin pie, nutmeg, rye and mild booze. Enjoyed this one!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark amber to copper pour with a minimal white, but surprisingly high effervescence. Aroma is huge by gigantic on caramel and oaky whiskey, some pie spice and earthy, sweet roasted pumpkin make an appearance, but the caramel and barrel really steal the show. Flavor is again, big on caramel and barrel, lots of vanilla and a decent amount of toasty, woody oak, light pie spice, light fruity esters, doughy yeast, light fusel-like notes, probably form the barrel. Heavy, chewy and slightly oily palate with a light, but fairly sharp, blanketing carbonation that fits the beer well.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pouring this one out of a growler my dad got for me while at the brewery. Pour dark hazy red / brown with not much head at all. Aroma is Bourbon and pumpkin spice. Fairly thick body with lots of boozy bourbon barrel flavor, and some pretty lively carbonation.
The pumpkin works well with the barrel aged flavor, and there is a little bit but not to much pumpkin spiciness to it. I almost wish it had a little more of the pumpkin aspect to it, as the heavy bourbon flavor kind of drowns it out a bit. Although the body feels heavy at first, it almost has kind of a watery texture, which makes it pretty easy to drink for how high the ABV is, but its definitely a sipper. Love these barrel aged beers and this one is pretty good.
