COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The birth of Pilsener beer can be traced back to its namesake, the ancient city of Plzen which is situated in the western half of the Czech Republic. The Czech Pilsener is light straw to golden color and crystal clear. Hops are very prevalent usually with a spicy bitterness and or a spicy floral flavor and aroma, notably one of the defining characteristics of the Saaz hop. Smooth and crisp with a clean malty palate, many are grassy. Some will show some archaic yeast characteristics similar to very mild buttery flavors and aromas

Bottle. Corn/barley malt and hay aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Sweet corn/barley malt, hay and lightly bitter herbal flavor. Decent body. More like a mediocre pale lager.

Says "Czech style pilsener". Well 6% abv is already a bit high. 12 oz twist off bottle purchased cold from the brewery. It pours pretty much like a czech pils, hard to get that one too wrong. It smells like a blonde ale, not a czech pils. The taste is closer to a czech pils than most but it still is too sweet and too undeveloped. American brewers REALLY need to taste czech and german pilseners, because they are reaching when they call their beers czech or german style.

Bottled. Poured clear, brilliant golden with a white head. The aroma picked up kind of dank bread and grainy notes with dusty earth and light floral accents.. clean, but almost to a fault because it was very reserved. The flavor found bread and honey sweetness at the core, with toasted grains laced throughout.. spicy and floral accents were interesting, but a touch sharp.. lemon zest and medicinal notes joined the spicy stuff on the fairly assertive finish. Light-bodied with tighter, prickly carbonation on the palate.. decent balance.. drinkable, but not great.

On draught at the Potosi brewpub in Southwestern Wisconsin. Pours a semi-clear golden yellow colored brew, some carbonation bubbles with a thick white head that slowly dissipates and leaves behind excellent lacing. Aroma of golden grain malt with grassy hops,a hint of white pepper and crisp crystal malt. Taste is light to medium bodied, sharp grassy hop bitterness with golden grain malt and some extra carbonation. Finish is semi-dry, grassy hop bitterness that slowly disappears. Much hopper and less fruity than the regular Potosi pilsener. Definitely a solid Czech style pilsener.

12oz bottle brought back from the Midwest. Poured a clear golden yellow color with a small white head. Aroma was notes of biscuit, malt, some light earthy hops. Flavor was crisp lagered beer - sweet malts. Pretty good, easy to drink and despite it being a bit high, sessionable.

Draft at Old Fashioned. Filtered pale yellow-peach. Thin non-head. The noble hops carry it, while the malts are a little fruity and it displays sort of Ale-like tones,,not very Lagery..or true to style. Not outright bad, just sort of amateurish. Not one I’d seek out again.

Straw yellow with a quickly fading white cap. Aroma is grassy and sweet with grains and some noble hops. Highly carbonated body is sweet and mildly grassy as well. Mild bitterness, not much to it.

UPDATED: JUN 21, 2014 Very bread based in every way, decently malty as well. Among the better Potosi beer.
