COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gandy Dancer is a robust American porter that has a French roasted coffee aroma without a burnt flavor. It starts with a medium caramel body that flows into a milk chocolate finish that results in many a light beer only drinker crossing over to the dark side. This beer pairs exceptionally well with braised meats to chocolate desserts.

Bottled. Poured clear, garnet-tinted cola brown with a short, sticky beige head. The aroma picked up sweet vanilla over roasted black and coffee malts.. touches of licorice too.. well-presented. The flavor found well-roasted chocolate, coffee, and licorice notes at the core.. vanilla and charred roast laced throughout.. finished dry and roasty, with a hit of acidity. Medium-bodied at most on the palate, with moderate carbonation.. good balance throughout. This was surprisingly good.

Poured a nice very deep red with minimal head and lacing. Aroma was nice mix of sweet malts with light coffee roast and prune hues. Taste is mainly of malts - roast and coffee/prune light hues with a nice smooth light hop finish. Palate was very nice with good viscosity. Overall, an extremely nice porter from the foks at good ole Potosi!

Lovely, lighter porter. Aroma carries light chocolate and bitter. Lovely creamy, maltiness in the mouth with the slightly bitter chocolate coming through.

Pours a deep chocolate with decent off white head. Aroma is quite malty, full of chocolate and roasted tones. A bit of dark fruit too. Taste is smooth and easy drinking, yet not lacking in flavor. Well done, Potosi!

Bottle from Woodmans. Pours brown. Foamy with a nice looking off-tan head. Some reddish tints, I guess, but brown. Aroma has roasted malts, some caramel, some coffee, perhaps some soy. Taste brings some coffee, caramel sweetness, toffee, and a bit of roast malts. Some depth, but not a lot. Finishes not too long. Stays sweet. The second bottle I chilled from cellar temperature for a while and I thought that was a little better that way. A bit more depth than a brown, but not a lot. The taste is there, just the depth is a bit short for a porter.

Pours dark brown almost black color with an off white head. Minimal nose of coffee, chocolate, and nuts. Great palate with notes of creamy smoothness and dark chocolate and nutty roundness. Great drinking beer.

Deep dark mahogony with a red hue, barely transparent.Light tan ring of foam, medium carbonation, spotty lacing.Nice milk chocolate aroma some mineral and toasted dark malt maybe a bit of coffee and a bit of hops/yeast.This beer just fits in you mouth nicely its a big smooth silky creamyness that seems to expand,a very nice hop presenance hits then some sweet to semi sweet chocolate mild smooth coffee finish with roast malt &some more hop bittering, leaving a nice trail of flavors overall.A bit of grassy resiony maybe herbal lingeringhop, slight citrus but very smooth and fitting for this porter, this may be one the best porters ive tried.

Thanks John. Bottle. Nearly black, with average non-descript aroma, but it’s the flavor and body is where this stands out. Rich sweetness up-front, like chocolate frosting, then the coffee and roasted malt finish kicks in. Really well balanced, creamy, could have several of these...Only knock on it would be to dial down the carbonation just a little, but otherwise this is highly recommended.

Bottle - Pours clear mahogany with a frothy light tan head. Buckwheat honey and molasses on the nose, brown sugar, and a medium roast malt that balances out the sweetness. Subtle, understated, and smooth. The taste is roughly the same, with the roast a little more prominent, and a touch of ash coming through. There are notes of licorice with a touch of sweetness on the finish, and a bit of milkiness. Really smooth in the mouth, medium-bodied, and despite being a bit overcarbonated, has an excellent mouthfeel.

Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, a bit of coffee and chocolate. Dry and full bodied, taste is more roasted malt with some more chocolate and a bit of caramel. Malty finish. Pretty solid all around.
