Opaque walnut brown with a small light tan head. Aroma is malty sweet with a bit of vanilla and roasted coffee. Flavor is dark roasted coffee and malt with a slight nutty sweetness. Finish is a short burst of light hops bitterness and almost charred malt. Medium bodied and creamy on the palate with a nice tingle of carbonation. A little shallow for a porter but still a very nice nice drink.

Caramel, chocolate, vanilla, notes deep brown color. Very good, easy drinking. Clear beer drinkers, this will help you understand that all dark beers are not scarey.

12oz bottle via trade. Pours a dark brown with a medium sized off white head. Aromas of light coffee, caramel, some dark fruit. Taste is semi sweet and lightly bitter. Flavors of artificially flavored caramel mocha frappachino but with a noticeable alcohol level. Unacceptable at this ABV. Continuing on we have some dark fruit and mettalic elements. Not a great beer by any stretch. Finishes sweet and fruity. Meh.

This is my second beer named Gandy Dancer, the first being a Golden Ale from a local brew pub. I find that there’s also an Impy Stout in Youngstown, Ohio, a California Common in Burlington, Vermont, and a Gandy Dancer in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for which four beers have been added to the site, yet all remain unrated. Interesting (or not). On to this Gandy Dancer...
It pour4s a deep chestnut body with the slenderest of tan heads. The aroma is dark caramel, some chocolate, and a dull earthiness. It seems a bit thin, slightly watery. The flavor is much like the aroma, a bit light. The finish is quite abrupt. Just okay.
That’s two Gandy Dancers down and six to go.

Brown and clear with a off white fizzy head. Aroma of dark coffee and veggies or grass? Anyway this is a good drinking porter. Flavor of caramel, cocoa, and coffee, some lactic presence as well. Lighter body, makes it easier to put a few more of them away.

I’d put this kind of on the line between a porter and a sweet stout. It’s kind of a homely brew, red brown w/ almost no lasting head but it doesn’t taste bad at all. It has a sweet, milk chocolate character, which is why I say it reminds me of a sweet stout, but it doesn’t really have the strong roasted character I’d expect. This is a little bit sticky on the palate for my tastes but otherwise, it’s a pretty good beer.

Nice dark brown color, slightly opaque. Soft aroma with mostly sweet notes. Full body with strong crystal malt influence and coffee flavors. Finishes clean for a robust porter.

12 ounce bottle from Woodmans in Beloit. This beer is almost completely black with just a little red. A one finger tan head and a good amount of carbonation floating up to meet it. The aroma is roasted but also some sweeter vinous notes, too. Less roasted notes in the flavor. In the background are bitter citrus hops and they add some brightness. A little vanilla and cocoa. This is quite nice and has a smooth feel.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours an attractive clear ruby brownish amber. Medium creamy beige head. Aroma is chocolatey, caramel, vanilla, a little cracker, some lactose. Flavor is much the same, more roasty. Medium body. Clean, smooth, great balance. Finish is light toasty, some cracker. A really well-made beer. Best of what ive had from Potosi. Underrated.
