COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Potosi Pure Malt Cave Ale A long time favorite during Potosi’s heyday, this is an Amber Ale that has a distinct malt character and a bit more assertive flavor profile which is comparable to an English Pale Ale. This is a medium bodied beer that is not over the top in any respect. Appearance: Deep Amber. Aroma: Malt and Caramel, slight floral aroma from Golding hops. Taste: Malty, light caramel, medium body. 6.5% • 14P • 10 IBU’s #PotosiBeer #PotosiCaveAle

Bottle. Pale amber. "Pure malt" that smells like adjunct and grassy hops. Flavor is initially a bit of sweet caramel malt and, again, an adjunct corn taste that fades to an herbal/earthen hop bitterness, almost woody. Relatively dry, bitter finish.

Shocked it isn’t seen as better by more people. On tap, this is, to quote the late John Denver, "almost heaven."

Bottle. Clear gold-orange pour with a smaller white head. Nose is baked bread and a touch of caramel. Moderate palate - fine for the style. Taste is bread and a bit of caramel sweetness. Easy drinker. Not too bad.

12oz bottle. Rating #47. Clear amber pour with a white head. Sweet caramel malt aroma. Flavor is similar, sweet caramel malts. Nothing special. (2300)

Mild aroma of being in a bakery at bread-making time. It’s possible to coax a bit of head on the pour, but nothing significant. Light carbonation and a soft gold color. Taste is an easy sweetness and the finish is dry. Could easily consume a few of these.

dionysus (1448) - Arizona, USA - FEB 25, 2012
Bottle pours deep amber, almost copper, with an off-white head. Aroma is definitely malt driven as the name would suggest, showing toffee/biscuit as well as some earthy/grassy hops. Flavor is lightly toasted and bready with some muted grass/flower notes that appear on the backend. Overall body is moderate and finishes with light bitterness.

Bottle. Light amber body. Fizzy white head, quickly diminishing. Sweet malts in the aroma — caramel, brown sugar, grain. Notes of grass and a hint of earthiness. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, light carbonation. The taste has hints of toasted grain, earthiness. Hops are missing in the flavor. A little lingering bitterness in the finish. Not a lot going on in this beer.

Almost no aroma or flavor. Some light caramel, and a light brown color. There is practically nothing here, which means nothing to enjoy.

Bottle- thanks John. Color is not quite an amber ale- more golden than orange. Head dissipates quickly, aroma is bready, doughy, with a faint hint of citrus hops. Nice bold start- good amount of caramel sweetness, creamy body, and then a clean, pine-hop finish. Flavors work well together, nice balance of everything. Solid beer.

12 oz. Clear copper with a lasting head. Faint nose of caramel, biscuit and a hint of citrus. Flavor is the same blend, with maybe some toasted nut. Light-medium body is smoothly carbonated and watery, so as to go down easy.
