Potosi Stingy Jack Pumpkin Ale is made with caramelized baked pumpkin. The addition of cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and nutmeg provide a finish that will have you thinking -- liquid pumpkin pie in a glass.

12 ounce bottle from Woodmanís on Gammon Road, Madison WI, served around cellar temp in a pint glass. A fairly sizable fluffy head tops a medium slightly cloudy amber body and decays with moderate speed...pumpkin-spice aroma is not overwhelmingly pie-like (ex: Southern Tier Pumking) but offers plenty of pungency and a mix of light malt, pumpkin, and herbs (tarragon) along with expected cinnamon, cloves, etc...body is similarly restrained, with the spicing fairly low and a decent pale malt texture dominating, until a rather bitter and dry, perhaps desiccated finish...more than a little burnt/toasted character throughout; reasonably full-bodied, low to moderate carbonation. I guess Iím pretty tired of pumpkin beers at this point, and I certainly donít love this one, but itís fairly easy to drink and neither too sweet and cloying nor bland, dry and dull. Good job, I guess.

It is what it says it is, but still itís so rich that I canít imagine drinking more than one of these. Aroma is rich spicy pumpkin pie/beer. Flavor is similar but muted and cut a little with the carbonation. Good body. Pleasant finish.

12/28/15. 12oz bottle from a mix 12pk from Trackside. Amber orange pour under a small khaki head, mild lacing. Pie spices on the aroma, light caramel aspect. Pie spices in the flavor as well, cinnamon and nutmeg and such, light caramel. Meh.

Aroma is cinnamon/cloves/spices, pumpkin and malts. The flavor is cinnamon/cloves, light pumpkin, malts, very light fruit and a mild heat in the finish.

On tap - Pours brown with ruby tints. Nose is lots of baking spice, clove, ginger, and pumpkin bread. Taste is the same--real spice heavy. Sweet but not overbearing. Thin and well-carbonated.

Tap at Mars Cheese Castle. Orange. Pumpkin, over ripe apples, cinnamon and sugar. Taste has a over ripe apple sweetness with a dry spice finish. Body is lighter with a dry feel.

Tap at Old Fashioned. Unfiltered glowing orange-red body. Frothy orange-beige head. Has a nice pumpkin flavor, but a touch of astringency doesnít help. Leans into the sweetness a little, youíd like to see some more refined malt tones. The aroma is kind of pungent, cheap. Not bad, but not one Iíd revisit.

Draft @4 old chicago. Pours a lightly cloudy dark orange with minimal head. Aroma of pumpkin pie. Cinnamon, nutmeg, etc. Taste is light sweet. Lots of cinnamon and pumpkin pie. It tastes like liquified pie. Light bodied with a thin yet slightly sticky texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not bad. Give it a try if you find it.

Draft at Craftsman Table & Tap. Dark orange verging on brown, small, dissipating off-white head. Clear, definitely filtered. Big pumpkin spice on the nose, with nutmeg, cinnamon, and a pronounced hop bitterness. Sweet on the front and mid palate, with some toffee and caramel blending well with the pumpkin characters, and a great bitter kick from the hops on the back end. Surprisingly good pumpkin ale from Potosi.

On tap flight sampler 8% this year.Very good pumpkin pie aroma, brownish hazy orange little to no head. Sweetness was mild had a little roast or dark malt with mild bitterness, pretty smooth, more pronounced pumpkin taste than alot of pumpkin ales but everything else was mild. A good pumpkin beer, even though they wouldnt share their last keg to fill my growler,i guess it wasnt that great anyway. Their bottled beers seem to taste better than on tap from all the samples,i tried.
