50cl Bottle from Getränke Hoffmann Boxhagener Str. Berlin. A clear golden, light pale malty and grassy bitter pils with a hint of metal. Easy drinking, refreshing bitterness. Nice enough. Light-bodied.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20

The scent is fresh, grassy and hoppy. The taste is fresh and dry with notes of malt and hops. Nice bitterness in the finish. Quite nice lager!

3.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
International Green Week, Berlin 2012: this year Hall 22a is shared by Berlin and the state of Schleswig-Holstein, by the time I’ve got here I’m ready for another beer and some lunch. I notice some seats with a table and lead my little group to a well earned rest. My thick Bockwurst and Lentil soup went down very nicely with the Pilsner.
Potsdamer Rex Pils is well known to me and I’ve had it many times over the years: never got round to reviewing it for some reason, rectified now though.
The regular Pilsner look, golden, clear and bright: this one came in a 0.4 litre handled glass with an overflowing foam head of snowy white bubbles.
The smell is again your typical Pilsner non-show, some hop esters and grainy hints, but nothing much at all: gets my usual score of 3 for a non-smelling Lager/Pils/Hell.
The taste is hop dry, yet fairly sweet in the initial sip; becoming more bitter as the mouth dries (pretty quickly once the liquid has left the mouth).
Medium body strength for a Pilsner, good carbonisation and ‘spritzy’ on the tongue: had a lot, lot worse on my travels and I’ll have no qualms about having another when in this part of the world.

On tap at Zum Nussbaum, Berlin.
Pours clear golden with a 2 inch creamy white head. Aroma is weak malty with som spicy hops. Taste starts rather dry and bitter hoppy, with a lively mouthfeel , lingering caramel malty towards the end. A decent pilsener.

Bottled 500ml. -from Bier Imperium, Vienna. 4 months after BBE date expired. Yellow coloured, small airy white head that went away fast, dry grainy nose. Malty, slight grainy and watery with bitterish finish. Simple and (below) average lager.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Foam has a relatively long time in the beer color, odor low to hop! The taste is very mild, slightly sweet, acidic taste. Clear that the old Fritz drank the like, but the selection was rather limited time!

Golden colour with a thin head. Herbal hops and bready malts. Moderate bitterness. Hop extract taste - vague grass and herbals. Decent malt background and respectably dry finish. A touch thin, as per style. For a regular Berlin swill, I like it.
