3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 blankboy (4285) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 20, 2009
Bottle [330ml] shared with and courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a murky amber-brown with an average size fizzy beige head. Nice aroma of Belgian yeast, lightly roasted caramel malt, chocolate, spices and dark fruit. Flavour is yeasty, malty and fruity along with some chocolate, spices and alcohol. Quite carbonated. Average to medium bodied. Very good and a nice suprise.

Very dark brown with massive tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel and licorice. Sweetish flavor, with notes of raisins and cinnamon. Interesting, but could be more complex and better balanced.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 JPDIPSO (4957) - Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 7, 2009
Brown colored liquid with a big fluffy taupe head and big blotches of lace. Stewed fruit, alcohol, and a touch of over-ripe banana. The alcohol and banana start to overtake the scent and lead to a rotting sawdust pile, interesting. Light start with a bit of toasted male and wintergreen. A touch of port and oak aged tannins. Woody depths and mild plum. Not a bomb in any sense. A "strong" with fairly mellow and delicate flavors. Nutty in the finish, along with a touch of raisins that have been flambéed in a pan with white wine. The more I taste the deeper and more complex the flavors become. Finish has a roasted malt and dark coffee linger. One of those brews that acts like a siren and draws you in. Not sure if I can resist.

bottle, reddish-dark brown colour with huge but unstable head. Smell: roasted malt and fruity. Taste: very tastefull, fruity, caramel, sweet, dark fruits, prunes, malty, alcohol. I like this beer and the character within. A very nice beer to drink on a very very cold day to heath up the body.

Bottle ( 330ml ). Shared with blankboy via trade with glouglouburp, the renownded Pumkin-hater. Cloudy, very dark brick-red, smallish swirling fizzy/frothy beige head. Rich aroma of raisin, caramel malt, yeast, winter spice, figs .... very very nice - very much like Westmalle Dubbel. Taste - follows, a little thinner, the alcohol comes through a little more - again, Westmalle! Average body, a little burny, spicy and dry, long finish - excellent - thanks, Dany!
