3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Gravity cask at the Bree Louise, London. Pours dark brown with ruby highlights and a slight, off-white foam head. Filter coffee and roasted malt aroma. Lightly sweet flavor with dark, sour malts, which I’m not really into. Some light peat and roast. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Sour malt finish, faint wood, peat, earth, roast. Hard to tell if this beer is in poor condition or if it’s just a poor British porter.

Cask. Buttery dark beer with some blackcurrant notes and a raspy bitter finish.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask conditioned Handpump Eastgate Northampton. A black beer with a whitish head. There are chocolate and oatmeal notes in the relatively thin nose. Sweet malts. Similar tastes. It’s a reasonable porter with decent chocolate but it’s all a bit thin.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask, gravity, at Luton Beer Festival ’11. Near black with a small white head. Fruit and malt aroma. Blackcurrant perhaps. Rice pudding as well. Thinnish liquorice taste. Some bitterness. It’s quite good, but just needs a bit more happening.
