<a href=http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/71/719 Hitchin Rusty. Sweaty. Rotting fruit. Some chocolate. Some apple, especially in the nose. A blurred confusion really. Some earthy hops escape from the confusion in the finish. Not really that enjoyable.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask (gravity dispense) at the Olde Dolphin Inn summer beer festival, Derby. A fair lip smacking bitter, enough citric fruit s in there to keep it light. And for the nth time when reviewing golds and bitters from this fest, it’s not an IPA.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
[Cask at Volunteers Arms, GBBF 2004] An orange beer with no head. Both the aroma and flavor are primarily sweet malty, but also slightly fruity. The mouthfeel is cask flat and the body is thin.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pale amber colour. Faint aroma. Dry and quite bitter. Light bodied. A good quaffing session beer. Not much else to comment on really. As Quaffmeister says, this is a typical English bitter, not what our transatlantic raters would regard as an IPA. Cask (gravity), Cambridge Beer Festival.

(Hand Pump) A copper coloured beer rated at 4.3% on the pump clip. Short tight head that left a trace of lacing. Some hoppiness that gives enough justification for the IPA tag, although a little watery in the flavour department. Reasonably bitter in the finish, all in all a very typical English Bitter style beer.

Cask Conditioned at Hook Norton Beer Festival 03. Amber in colour with a medium head. Not a truly classi IPA, the hop is probablt too restrained, however; it is dry and sharp with modest bitterness, good enough for this ABV.
