Power Plant Colonel Parks Pale Ale

(draught at brewpub) slightly hazy copper with small off white head. Citrus hops aroma is mild. Flavor is a balance of biscuit malt and hops. Not sure why it’s listed as an IPA, but it’s a good pale ale.

Pint at the brewpub. Pours a hazy orange with a quickly diminishing head. Aroma of citrusy hops. Flavor is pine and grapefruit, nice malty backbone. Much better than the last time I visited.

On tap at the brew pub. Pour is darkish gold, had to re-read description at brew pub to understand this is an IPA, not PA. Aroma is hop citrus. Taste is malt, with hop presence, though certainly not strong. Not terrible, when I go back, this will probably be what I order.

On tap. Citrusy, piney, light cereal aroma. Taste is moderate bitterness, piney hops, some earthiness.

Sampled at St. Louis Microfest - Poured lightly hazy orange / dark gold. Aroma was grassy hops with a nice malt backbone. Taste is clean light malt with a light huskiness. There is a bit of skunk in there as well. Medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation. Grassy floral hops on the finish. An okay beer.

A strange dark gold body that was too dark for a pale ale. There was a slightly off white head topping the clear body. The aroma was grapefruit with bread and hay. The taste had classic grapefruit with wood and some soap. This was a hop bomb with little balance.

Poured clear yellow to orange with minimal head and lace. Grapefruit, lemon, and grassy aromas. Harsh bitterness with no real malt character, and on the watery side. Very average at best.

Finally one of their beers gives off an inviting hop aroma with a golden-amber color. But then I’m right back to disappointed. This has medium bitterness, but there’s absolutely no backbone to it and no body.
