kwoeltje (1313), Manchester, Missouri, USA Apr 24, 2008 (draught at the brewpub) Bronze red with small light tan head. Slightly sweet malt aroma. Flavor is caramel malt and some hops in the finish. theisti (1638), Leawood, Kansas, USA Mar 30, 2007 On tap at the brewpub. Pour is bronze - red, very little head. Aroma is not really present. Taste is a little bit of malt, no hop, and really nothing else until the finsish, which was putrid. I certainly hope I got a bad one. Other raters I respect scored this one far higher, so I’ll give it a go next time and hopefully have an improved re-rate. csbosox (1076), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Jul 5, 2006 On tap. Reddish color. Aroma is caramelly. Taste is caramelly, nutty, mildly spciy. Not too bad. heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA Mar 20, 2006 The body was dark copper with a light khaki colored head. The aroma was iced tea with apples and a hint of oranges. The taste had orange liqueur wit some caramel and old leaves. Something was musty and off in the finish. tjthresh (1746), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Jul 29, 2005 Lots of of strong caramel and a touch of roast malts, fruity yeast esters, and no hop aroma. Nice and clear reddish brown with little head. Very caramelly with a great dark malt and hop bitterness at the end. Full bodied with the right amount of carbonation. Rate Beer has this listed as an amber ale, but I think it fits the Irish Red style better. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA Jun 12, 2005 A bronze brew with a typical head. Little to no aroma and same for any flavors. Barest of malt notes, otherwise this is vapid. SledgeJr (2957), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Mar 7, 2005 On tap at the brewpub. Copper color with an ivory head. Exceptional lacing. Sheets of foam coat the sides of the glass. Very smooth tasting. Same brutal hop finish as the wheat, unfortunately. However, I like the malty palate. Dansting (222), Overland Park, Kansas, USA Jun 30, 2004 Probably the best beer at the Power Plant Brewery. Full color and flavor, with a pleasant aftertaste.
