Terminus (1955), Illinois, USA Oct 9, 2006 tap at Augusta bottoms beerfest alongside vyvvy. This was brewed with ale yeast, so its not a true marzen, but has alot of the character associated with it. The beer dispensed burnt amber in appearance with a soapy rocky off-white head. nose is toasty, bready, with some earthy notes as well. light fruit tones come out a little as well. very bready flavors from all the malts and the ale yeast may have something to do with this as well. 8%? where? this could go as a good malty asa in my mind, but nonetheless, a tasty treat. vyvvy (1582), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Oct 7, 2006 Sampled at Augusta Bottoms Beer Festival 2006. According to the brewer at the festival this is an Octoberfest brewed with an ale yeast and clocks in at 8%. Pours dark hazy orange with a thick off-white head. The aroma is soft earthiness and fruit - hints of brett. Velvety smooth body with soft carbonation. The flavor starts off with the flavors from the aroma with a solid malt base. Teh finish has spicy hops and bits of caramel malt. I’m not sure I pick up the Octoberfest characteristics, but this is still a fine unique beer. Nicely done.
