Power Plant Port Flanders Port-Barrel Aged Ale

On tap at the Power Plant Strong Ale Fest ’07. Certainly contains plenty of woody port in the nose, also some dark brown sugar sweetness, cherry, red grape and berry fruity touches. Cloudy rusty red color with a slight head ringing the glass. Flavor has a lot of port character as well, with earthiness, old wood and berryish dark fruits, with a blend of dark brown sugary sweetness and a fruity tang at the finish, which is semi-dry and long-lingering. Mouthfeel is disappointingly lifeless and watery with a light degree of acidity. Body is light-medium. A good attempt, but missed the mark, I felt. Could use some support!
