Sweet, toast-malty nose with caramel, cacao and bread-crust impressions, backed with a tinge of herbal hops. Sweet flavour, toasted malt-character with caramel and light notes of chocolate/cacao; light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation; sweet, slightly bitter finish with a moderate length. Light toasted malt, good balance. Mellow, light sparkly mouthfeel. bready aftertaste, but still fresh.
Geiserich (1530), Vienna, Austria Jun 5, 2006 Draught: Nice malty aroma, medium sweetness, some fruity and bready grain notes. Dark brown color, nearly black. Off-white creamy head. Malty, light to medium sweetness. Some fresh acid. Nice roastiness but not too intensive. Medium bodied. Dry finish, light astringent, roasty finish. A very nice dunkles, not to sweet and nice roasted malt notes. fly (1238), austin, Tejas, USA May 13, 2004 A very good if not great dunkels.Dark and malty, but not in the same manner as the dopplebock of course. Will admit that the entire atmosphere surounding the consumption was an influence as I had just completed a fantastic meal, taken a stroll around the place and was watching as a large table of elders assembled, clinked glasses and said "Prost!" - Situated atop a picturesque hill with accomodations (that I didn’t check into) and bottles and glassware for sale. What more could you want? Oh, beer? They have some good beer and this is one of them.
