Bottle @ home shared with Ansjelaah. Pitch black coloured beer with a fairly large sized light brown head. Smells roasty, malts, sweet, chocolate. Tastes very roasty, malty, slightly toasty, sweet, a hint of liquorice and some alcohol. Full body, medium carbo.

Bottled, BB 20-02-14, large sample. Dark color, short brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, dark fruit, hint of mocha, dark chocolate. Medium bitter in taste, touch of biscuity sweetness. Wow, I was not expecting this. Lots of roasted malts almost turning this into a stout. Full bodied. Quite fruity finish. As I had no expectations, I was pleasantly surprised.

750 ml Bottle (shared) Allmost black beer with a frothy tan head. Aroma: caramel malts, roasted malts yeast and something close to black olives in the background. Taste: starts with quite roasted malts then goes over in a more fruity hoppy tones, before it finished with caramelised and much more roasted malts and a hint of coffee. Slightly Sticky Texture, Medium carbonation and body Not really a Doppelbock something of a hybrid of bock and a Stout, but quite nice in it’s own way.

Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a clear dark brown with a reddish hue and a frothy tan head. The aroma is creamy caramel malt and yeast. The flavour is medium to strong bitter. Medium to full bodied, lively carbonation and a creamy texture with a bitter sweet, spicy hop palate. Very drinkable, but could probably use less bubbles.

330 ml bottle poured into a tulip. ABV 8% Opens with a loud pop that scared me to death! Pours an almost black beer with some dark ruby shades when hold against the light. Tall and thick beige head, with low retention for the biggest part but after it has collapsed to a one finger sized, it holds pretty good. Light lacing on the glass. Dark malts on the aroma, smell of black olives at first that gives its place to a hazelnut one but without ever leaving, hints of alcohol. Great taste! Roasted malts, chocolate, a little bit of vanilla, hints of smoke. Alcohol is notable but not annoying at all. Medium thick body, good carbonation with a light bite. Really great beer, I will be keeping an eye for it.

Brown, flat, no head. Aroma has roasted malts, candy and caramel. Slightly bitter taste, with coffee, mocca. Medium bodied, fairly good. For me not reaally a bock but more an imperial stout. Nice.

Dark brown body, quite clear I think, with foamy, soapy light brown head. Toasted aromas, earthy yeast, dark fruity notes, apple butter/syrup, dark malts... much richer than expected. Full bodied, syrupy mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Burned favours and a strong hop presence. Wow, did not expect this at all. And even more so intrigued by the ’burned malts with carlsberg yeast’. Packs the fruity, rich flavours of an ale with the spicy, earthy ones of a lager. I haven’t been much impressed with this brewer before - usually just okay - but this is quite a step up. Well done! (33cl bottle, from ABC beers)

Bottle @ home. Aroma is big caramel, some fruits, some roast, touch of yeast. Flavour is some roasty malt at first, then some fruity hops and yeast, then some caramel malt and followed by a light bitter roasty finish. Nice.

The head is medium, the body black. It smells roasty, a bit alcoholic. The taste is roasty, malty, creamy, alcoholic-creamy. Overall interesting. 11/12/12/11/-/11
