3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours murky light gold, bright yellow, awesome color, reminds me of how sour lemon candy looks. The aroma has a little citrus funk sour and signature farmhouse earthy spice. The taste adds lemon, grass, some sweet and bitter notes. The palate has nice body with high carbonation and a sticky syrupy tart mouthfeel. My first prairie beer and Iím really enjoying it. A great representation of the farmhouse style.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle - hazy gold - pour looks almost completely still - nose is honey, light muskiness, light mineral, phenols of pepper and plastic - limp and lifeless in the mouth - flavor is dry up front - dry grain, pepper, hay, dull neutral yeast - a bit of apricot and ginger later - finish is lightly bitter and mildly phenolic - overpriced and fairly weak.

bottled, cloudy orange with tall white foam, earthy citrus aroma, big earthy, herbal flavors, seems much more like a 7 or 8% biere de garde than a 4.5% saison, very nice

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Head is initially small, frothy/fizzy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is hazy medium yellow.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain/cereal), lightly hoppy (herbs), lightly yeasty (cobwebs, basement), with notes of pepper, lemon zest, cement, banana taffy.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively/fizzy carbonation.
Iíve had this a couple of times, and itís hard to get excited about. Itís too sweet, which is my main gripe, especially for a little 4.5% beer regardless of style...the saccharine-ish sweetness lingers well into the finish and kinda coats the tongue. I get kind of tired of drinking it halfway through one bottle, which speaks volumes for what should be a multiple-bottle quaffer. The aromaís fairly attractive (other than the banana candy), though. Mouthfeel and appearance leave a lot to be desired, so combined with the kinda clunky flavor balance, it just doesnít work as a whole. Drinkable but thatís about it. I applaud them for making a saison at this low of an ABV, I really do, itís exactly what I crave...but the execution just isnít there, sadly. And the price is a bit out of line too.

P: Hazy gold with a very thin head. S: Lots of things going on in here, a strong smell of lemon zest, cilantro, sage, cloves, bananas and just more herbs and spices. T: This is straight up a spicy/herby saison. Some sage, cilantro, white pepper with a lemony finish. M: Med/high carbonation, rather a cripy and refreshing beer. O: Very nice and refreshing beer.
