4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle @ The HUGE Tasting, acquired by trade. Deep brown with a thick tan head. The nose is wonderfully diverse, multi-faceted. Toasted shredded coconut. Burnt brown sugar. Baked Alaska dessert. Some vanilla and marshmallow fluff. Hints of chili heat. The taste is similarly rich. Roasted malt base. Loads of earthy dark chocolate and coffee. Accents of sweet marshmallow fluff. Full body, rich. Moderate carbonation. Fantastic.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle - Dark roast coffee, bittersweet chocolate and some light spice. Jet black with a big brown head. Lots of dark roast which really overwhelms everything else. Nice, but not as awesome as expected.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared at RBWG grand tasting! Pours a thick black with tan brown head. Aroma is big coffee and a slight spice on the back end. Taste is like a chocolate milk shake with well hidden booze and a slight vanilla spice. Wow, thick and viscous, nice silky texture. Amazing, but Hunahpu is better.

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Shared bottle with bytemesis. Black color, little foam. Cool aroma, fresh peppers, coffee, chocolate sweetened by the vanilla. Interesting to see all if those ingredients show up so distinctively. Flavor tends more to the vanilla/chocolate combo up front, coffee in the mix, some pepper heat in the finish, roast bitter and ash left in the far finish. Awesome.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
On draft. Oh sweet jesus. Aroma of hot, melted chocolate. Flavors of chocolate, ristretto-pulled espresso, bananas, hops and chocolate. As it warms, a suggestion vegetable stock keeps it from being too sweet. Holy mother of Mary (that would be Ann). Unreal. 14% but who would know. One of the very best.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
12oz bottle pours a dark brown color without much head. Full of flavor yet easy going. Mild chocolate flavor and slight hint of the chili.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
First beer of Ratebeer Winter Gathering 2014. Thanks to whomever shared this! This was an odd beer - it smelled like decadent vanilla and chocolate, with very little if any pepper evident in the aroma. The taste, however, was more bitter and almost savory than the aroma suggests. Nice mix of vanilla, coffee, and pepper.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared on the RBWG bus tour (LaZoom!). Dark brown pour. Nose is straight up Mexican food: red and green spicy peppers upfront with a little mole sauce for support. Flavor is great and surprisingly luscious upfront: rich dark chocolate with some vanilla notes. The peppers blend well: they’re definitely there a give a slight sting to the tongue, but it doesn’t overpower things like the nose had me suspecting would happen. Thicker than expected in a good way. Delicious stuff.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Sample at Kurtkeller 005: Coffee-tastic 01 on 02/08/2014. Pitch black pour with a medium thick foamy tan head that dissipates slowly. Patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and peppers. Full-bodied with flavors of chocolate malt, roasted coffee and subtle chili peppers. The finish is roasty with a vanilla cocoa and spicy chili aftertaste. Well-balanced and and enjoyable beer all around.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap. Pours jet black with a light brown head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, peppers and booze. Taste starts earthy which is followed by a medley of chocolate, coffee, vanilla and hints of pepper in the back of the throat. Goddamn tasty and super smooth considering the ABV.
