coffee & chocolate notes waft off the surface. alcohol heat is mostly hidden by the smooth dark/roasty malts, nibs and pepper spice. solid sipper!

The beer pours a very dark brown with a medium reddish brown head that fades somewhat quickly. The aroma blends cocoa nibs, roasted peppers, roasted malts, and coffee beans, and the taste is slightly bitter (due to dark chocolate and coffee flavors), mildly umami, slightly sweet, and slightly spicy. The finish increases in bitterness with the coffee and dark chocolate flavors becoming more predominant, and the mouthfeel fuses an oily texture, medium-full body, and a soft carbonation.

Aroma: Lean roast, fudge without being sweet; dry chocolate cake. Appearance: Pitch black with a dark mocha head that settled into a ring. Flavor: Dry, cake-like, pronounced pepper toward the finish (pepper flavor, not a ton of heat). 14%? Couldn’t tell. Palate: Full body, creamy texture, flat carbonation, long finish. Overall: Definitely good, but not top tier for me.

Initial aroma was of cigarettes then followed up by coffee, I don’t like cigarettes but I enjoyed this aroma. Mild chilli bite on the taste that stayed the distance, smoke was there as well, milky coffee and also the vanilla notes, very very easily drinkable and the appearance started it all off well with a deep black body with a decent size dark tan head. Expecting a good beer and definitely wasn’t disappointed.

Tap @ Scratch Bar as part of the Weekend of Darkness event 200714. Wow what an amazing beer this is. Given that when they went to tap the keg the coupling broke and the beer had to be transferred to another keg the beer lost none of its awesomeness. Black, brilliant and bloody good.

Bottle from mane liquor. Pours a pitch black with a very tanned head. Nose smells fucking amazing. Loads of chocolate, espresso, vanilla and roasted malts. Taste is upfront bitter coffee - then the vanilla sweetens the finish which includes a light chili after burn. Fuck me this exceptional. 13% not evident booze hidden so well. Cocoa coated palate leaves you wanting more. Wow! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Two-Row bar, melbourne. Very black with a small tan head. The aroma is mainly strong black coffee. The flavour is rich roast malts, bitter chocolate, coffee, caramel, coffee. More bitter than sweet, a full body, with a chilli burn that builds. Very satisfying.

Imperial Stouts are the attention whores of the craft brewing world. Their huge flavors demand that you take notice. Their black bodies and high levels of booze love to share the stage with other heavy hitters. There’s a lot going in Prairie’s much-loved Imperial Stout. Bomb! is aged with coffee, cacao nibs, vanilla beans, and chili peppers. That crazy assortment of ingredients sounds more random than delicious but the flavor absolutely works. At the front of the mouth, spicy pepper and cocoa make an explosive first impression and make you think that you’re in for an intense blast of heat and bitterness. Instead, Bomb! quickly introduces its coffee profile before settling into a sweet finish with chocolate and vanilla. This is the kind of Imperial Stout that scares you at the start and makes sweet love to your mouth at the finish. That contrast was awesome until the very end. This ale is a masterpiece.

On tap at Good Karma and later 12oz bottle from D&Q - The Beer Station, Houston. From notes. This is it. At the end of our tasting we poured this next to last. This has to be one of the most complex stouts we have tried. The flavors are a constant flood of the mix. Coffee seems to be the predominate smell, besides the huge malt BOMB. Rich and Roasted. What we loved about this beer is it’s never ending drama. A fantastic sipper to last the rest of the evening. Cheers.
