4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours an opaque black with just a hint of cola color around the edges. Big fluffy dark khaki head, maybe the darkest I’ve seen, that hangs around forever and leaves good lacing. Aroma of chocolate, cocoa, earthy roasted coffee, vanilla and toffee and some green, vegetal notes. Big chocolate, espresso and vanilla flavors in the taste. Roasted flavors that combine with the peppers green and vegetal notes to provide a big and fairly sharp bitterness. Has a smokey and charred taste also from the malt and peppers and a bit of licorice. Alcohol and it’s spiciness become more apparent as it warms but are still kept in check by the other flavors. Finishes dry with a prominent roasty and green bitterness. Mouthfeel is creamy with a medium/full body and carbonation. Big, bold flavors of an imperial stout that are enhanced by smokey peppers and charred malts.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black with a light brown head. Aroma of coffee, vanilla, mocha. Taste is sweet and roasty and a little bitter. Medium-full bodied. The 14% is really well masked. Just wish I got some chile pepper out of it, but super good nonetheless.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pitch black, surprisingly huge amount of very dark brown head. Smells of huge amounts of earthy coffee, cocoa, vegetal pepper, vanilla, dark caramel. Taste is a lot of the same big bold coffee with some charred hop flavor, rich cocoa, chocolate, some caramel vanilla sweetness. The peppers are subtle at the end of a sip with just a slight pepper burn on the tongue that works well and is perfectly balanced. Alcohol is very well hidden. Mouthfeel is thick and viscous, coats. All the flavors work well. Damn fine beer.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Un corps soyeux mais riche qui tapisse le verre et mon palais. Gros chocolat noir, café, caramel avec une fine membrane friable de chili qui s’exprime de plus en plus. Courte mais mémorable rencontre.

tap@Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014 - dark brown verging black coloured pour with tan head. Aroma and taste of dark roasted malts, caramel, rich chocolate, coffee, light vanilla, complex and lovely mouthfeel, and the chilli (compared to some other chilli infused beers that day) was judged/balanced perfectly as far as my palate is concerned. Beer of the 1st session for me. Immense.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
330 ml at home - pours deep black with a thin dark beige head. Aroma is a quite perfect combination of the darkest chocolate and green paprica. Medium body, dry roast and lots of spicyness. A lot of heat of the chili peppers, a tad too much.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
On draft a few weeks ago at the Sybarite Pig in Boca Raton, FL. Snifter. Pours a jet black, opaque with a one finger mocha head that lasted about 60 seconds. Some mild lacing. Amazing aroma of dark chocolate, cocoa nibs, vanilla, roasted malts, and spices. The taste was even more amazing with the dark chocolate nibs taking the defining taste, moving into vanilla, lactose, heavy cream and roasted malts. The finish was a continuation of the overall dark chocolate. Creamy mouth, full body, moderate carbonation. Damn fine beer.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle via deyholla – thanks! Poured into my new teku glass, thought this would be a fitting way to break it in. Very dark brown in color with a big, bubbly dark brown head. Strong aroma of coffee, a nice fresh roast and nutty blend, cocoa, and light vanilla. The little bit of smoke and ash must be from the chilies. Taste is highlighted with coffee and cocoa, the vanilla is evident, but minimal. Nice little smoky chili finish. Really comes together quite seamlessly. Ever so smooth and silky. I really like this… so easy to drink, but still a sipper. Small format bottle is a major plus.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Prairie Bomb! pours pitch black, and has a decent dark tan head. The head lingers nicely. The aroma is amazingly complex and layered: vanilla, cocoa, big coffe notes, roasted malts, a woody, oaky characteristic, a slight burn of alcohol when I breathe deep, and a very mild chili peppers. It’s rather viscous, a bit slick on the tongue. It’s a very full body. The taste follows the nose nicely. Coffe is prominent, and chilis are just barely there, but it works wonderfully that way. Just a great, great stout.
