Bomb! is an imperial stout aged on espresso beans, chocolate, vanilla beans, and ancho chile peppers. All the flavors meld to create a truly unique beer. The peppers add just the right amount of heat to compliment the intense coffee and chocolate flavors.

Aroma of coffee, vanilla, milk chocolate, taste is immediate chilies, chocolate, to lots of coffee, which finishes long with coffee and a nice alcohol warming. This stout is exactly what Prairie says it is. I could drink this every single night. Wow. Was not expecting this.

It pours black with what appears to be little head which develops a few seconds after the pour. The head is a rich, dark brown. It has aromas of chocolate, coffee, cocoa, nuts, and vanilla. It has flavors of chocolate, cocoa, chilli, especially on the palate and vanilla. It has a rich creamy texture as well.

355ml brown bottle, poured into a snifter glass. Appearance is opaque brownish black with a light brown small head, that dissipated quickly leaving no head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla and coffee. Flavours of roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, spices, liquorice, coffee and butterscotch. Taste is medium-heavy sweet and medium bitter. Palate is full bodied, slightly sticky texture and soft carbonation. Prairie Bomb! is delicious, the flavours are well balanced, alcohol is completely masked, sweet but not overly sweet.

(350ml bottle from Systembolaget) Pours jet black with a tiny whitish head. Aroma is intense and almost pungent with the additions on full display: coffee and vanilla beans are the most immediate. Just behind is roast cacao and dark chocolate with a smoky quality from the ancho and finally some salty liquorice hints. Smells dry overall. Taste is sweeter, dark chocolate and molasses up front with sweetened espresso. The coffee and vanilla beans become nice and prominent in the middle, with a bit of a roasty quality that continues through the finish. The ancho chile builds towards the finish, smoky and with a light heat that contributes to the dryness of the finish with just a hint of burn. Finish and aftertaste basically bone dry with cacao bean, coffee and medium roast lingering as well, lightly bitter. Medium body with low to medium carb but a bit finish. Of course this beer stands on its additions but they are beautifully balanced against one another. Chile is especially well handled. Doesn’t quite have the elegance of Fred’s Blend, being a bit more punchy, but it is super stuff.

Pours jet black, huge clump of sediment left in the bottom of the bottle. Aroma is intensely dark and coffee filled when first poured slightly to cold for the style, also getting some of the chili when cold. Taste gives away the chocolate right of the bat, coffee, roasted malts. The chili does take some space in the backend, just the right amount of space infact! 13% ABV? No way was my first thought. Dangerous stuff, perhaps one of the most well masked alcohol content i have tried so far! Bottle from SB.

12 oz. bottle from Tasty Beverage Company, Raleigh, NC. Pours black with a short brown head. Coffee is obvious on the aroma at first but softens to allow the chocolate and chile peppers to come through. The taste starts with espresso, then fades to chocolate and vanilla bean, and finally the chile pepper shines through but does not seem to linger or get in the way of the other flavors. The finish is warm from the alcohol although I suppose the peppers add some extra heat. I have had other stouts that added peppers that I did not care for but this is done right. Exceptionally done.

From bottle. Pours opaque black black with almost not head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate and peppers. Taste is a rich mix of chocolate and chili peppers, no burn, but the hint of it is there. Not overpowering. Medium mouthfeel with very light carbonation. Only a hint of bitterness on the finish. This is a delicious and complex beer.

A black beer, a head is small and brown. Aroma has strong black coffee, some salt liquirice, cocoa and vanilla, hint of chili. Taste is rich and smooth. Coffee, cocoa, salt liquirice and dark chocolate, some vanilla, hint of characteristic chilis. Warming in the throat and cheeks. Full bodied, slippery, smooth and pleasant in the mouth, low carbonation. Vanilla and chilis can be noticed but they aren’t dominating, just as it should be. This is so good that the glass is empty too soon. Highly complex but also greatly balanced. Brilliant beer.

Bottle. Rich dark black pour, nice small amount of carbonation and an aroma of dark chocolate and some spice. Flavor is also dark chocolate, good strong coffee and some nice mild pepper spice on the aftertaste. A little much at $12 a bottle, but worth picking up.
