A bit on sweet side, too much cinnamon. Nice heat from pepper. Decent drinkability. A bit above average mouthfeel.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Thick, oily pour that leaves behind a faint tan head that quickly fades into a mere ring around the edge of the glass. Aroma is bold, dominated by notes of licorice, soy sauce, and raw cocoa. Time for the first sip. Bold notes of fresh coffee beans and chocolate on the front end that gently fade into sweet vanilla and caramel like flavors. Surprising amount of sweetness coming through on the back end. There is a bit of lingering heat from the chili peppers that gives it a very interesting dynamic. The more the beers warms up the more prevalent the chili peppers become. This beer really develops quickly in in the glass. Palate is thick and luscious. Overall this is truly a great beer drinking experience. An interesting take on the imperial stout, and a beer Iím definitely looking forward to trying once it has some age on it. Iíll be putting the other 3 away for awhile to allow them to develop and smooth out a bit.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sweet imperial stout with a distinct, but mellow spicy heat from flavoring with chiles. Much more biting as it warmed in the snifter. A nice mingling of coffee roastiness and heat.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Wonderful beer. Lots of coffee and a slight bite of chili at the end. Pours black with mocha head and lacing. Thick, creamy consistency. Finishes bitter and a little spicy. Lots of dark chocolate and big roast. Wonderful balance. Thanks to DCLawyer for sharing a bottle of this at Churchkey.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Beer in the glass deep black, small head. Heavy malty aroma, earthy-woody. Starts intense malty, notes of coffee and cacao, some chocolate. Some chili noted, but not as much as the stout with chili I made.. Oily malty finish. I enjoyed during the Cowboy Romp of Philly. 38 - 27.

Bottle. Ok...I drink a lot of impy stouts and this one is pretty exceptional. It is on the sweetside for those how like their IS heavy on bitterness. But overall this is pretty exceptional. If not a little boozy.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pitch black, with an inch of cinnamon-colored foam, dense and marshmallowy. Cocoa powder in the nose, chalky milk chocolate, light roast coffee, vanilla bean. A slight vegetal aroma Iím gonna attribute to the chiles. Coffee is most prominent in the flavor, though here it seems overly roasted, balanced by smooth vanilla and finished by bittersweet dark chocolate and a very subtle pepper heat. Body is a bit light to support the style and all the flavors -- itís medium-light and full of prickly carbonation. I canít attest to the freshness of this bottle, but both the chocolate and coffee in here seem a little stale. Nice blend, nonetheless.
