4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Prairie Bomb! pours pitch black, and has a decent dark tan head. The head lingers nicely. The aroma is amazingly complex and layered: vanilla, cocoa, big coffe notes, roasted malts, a woody, oaky characteristic, a slight burn of alcohol when I breathe deep, and a very mild chili peppers. It’s rather viscous, a bit slick on the tongue. It’s a very full body. The taste follows the nose nicely. Coffe is prominent, and chilis are just barely there, but it works wonderfully that way. Just a great, great stout.

Bottle. Wood smoke/ash, milk, dark chocolate, and coffee malt aroma. Dark brown-black with small brown head. Sweet dark chocolate, coffee ground malt flavor, and bitter-astringent herb and ash flavor. Mild chili burn in the finish. Very tasty.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a beautiful dark amber brown. Cocoa comes across from the first bit of aroma. Smooth drinking with a fantastic hint of pepper at the finish.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
355ml bottle. Black with a finger of brown head. Nose is all chili at first, then coffee breaks through. Powerful and a bit chaotic so far. Hints of praline and molasses. All it seems to be missing is the vanilla. Taste is a better experience, with the elements working in much greater harmony. No real "heat" from either chili or alcohol, but definitely some lingering warmth. Nice feel to it and not too sweet. Pretty good!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A bit on sweet side, too much cinnamon. Nice heat from pepper. Decent drinkability. A bit above average mouthfeel.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Thick, oily pour that leaves behind a faint tan head that quickly fades into a mere ring around the edge of the glass. Aroma is bold, dominated by notes of licorice, soy sauce, and raw cocoa. Time for the first sip. Bold notes of fresh coffee beans and chocolate on the front end that gently fade into sweet vanilla and caramel like flavors. Surprising amount of sweetness coming through on the back end. There is a bit of lingering heat from the chili peppers that gives it a very interesting dynamic. The more the beers warms up the more prevalent the chili peppers become. This beer really develops quickly in in the glass. Palate is thick and luscious. Overall this is truly a great beer drinking experience. An interesting take on the imperial stout, and a beer I’m definitely looking forward to trying once it has some age on it. I’ll be putting the other 3 away for awhile to allow them to develop and smooth out a bit.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sweet imperial stout with a distinct, but mellow spicy heat from flavoring with chiles. Much more biting as it warmed in the snifter. A nice mingling of coffee roastiness and heat.

Wonderful beer. Lots of coffee and a slight bite of chili at the end. Pours black with mocha head and lacing. Thick, creamy consistency. Finishes bitter and a little spicy. Lots of dark chocolate and big roast. Wonderful balance. Thanks to DCLawyer for sharing a bottle of this at Churchkey.

Bottle. Beer in the glass deep black, small head. Heavy malty aroma, earthy-woody. Starts intense malty, notes of coffee and cacao, some chocolate. Some chili noted, but not as much as the stout with chili I made.. Oily malty finish. I enjoyed during the Cowboy Romp of Philly. 38 - 27.
