Bomb! is an imperial stout aged on espresso beans, chocolate, vanilla beans, and ancho chile peppers. All the flavors meld to create a truly unique beer. The peppers add just the right amount of heat to compliment the intense coffee and chocolate flavors.

Wow, it turns out I had a nearly identical experience with this one to GT2, down to exactly matching scores...nose has a pleasant earthy coffee character but also a bit of a bell pepper note. Taste is this but even moreso, really really earthy, tastes like the coffee flavor has been aging for a while and left behind a sort of unpleasant character, there are nice things here but also a difficult beer to get through even a 4oz pour of. I wouldn’t say this is a great stout, but it might just be a case of bottle variance rather than an inherently flawed beer. Will have to try again.

Bottle from Whole Foods Market in Redwood City, CA. Tastes like a smashed up a coffee, chocolate cookie in a shot of peaty whiskey.

12 oz bottle kindly given to me by captainahab over at craftbeerkc.com. The pour is an opaque black with a smallish khaki head that falls quick. The aroma is along with roast and some metallic iron notes, Cane sugar as the beer warms. The taste is a strong sweet malt, the cane sugar, dark chocolate, the chili spice and vanilla that lingers. The palate is medium to heavy bodied with lower carbonation and the molasses spice vanilla lingering along with a shot of booze in the finish. Decent integration of alcohol. Overall a solid take on the style. Thanks Chris!

Omg I’m in love! Pours pitch black w/ the tiniest tan head w/out much lacing. The aroma is pure melted chocolate. The taste is chocolate galore & is absolutely exquisite on the palate. It’s soft yet so robust w/ flavor! It’s like drinking a Hershey bar but better! Absolutely fantastic!

Bottle. L: very dark, tiny highlights around the edges. Small tan head. S: oh man. Delicious big complex aroma. Chocolate slightly stronger than the awesome coffee and vanilla notes. It smells rich and inviting. T: wham! Nailed it. Flavours all there not overpowering each other, but sitting harmoniously. The vanilla sweetness aligns with the peppers which give a roasted warmth. F: the body is intense, the alcohol is not in the taste but in the feel, warming the chest and throat. O: damn. Not only the best imperial stout but maybe the best beer I’ve had the pleasure to drink. Insane.

Smells of chocolate, leather, alcohol and soy sauce. Poured black with little to no head. Thick and astringent palate. Cocoa nibs and the alcohol are the dominating tastes. Good beer but I don’t think it’s really all it’s hyped up to be. I had been hoarding this beer waiting for the right time to drink it but it’s not worth waiting to share with anyone.

Deep chocolately opaque brown, minimal tan head. Big lacto sweet notes, light vegetal pepper notes. Quite sweet, light spiciness. Fairly hot, medium chewy body, long aftertaste. Quite good.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. The aroma is chocolate, spicy, peppery, coffee. The flavor is less peppery, warming, coffee, chocolate. There is a strong sweetness, sugary. Good beer but I find it to be out of balance. I cannot tell if the pepper notes are only from the peppers or if some of them are from the coffee.

Theres a reason this is called Bomb! This comes off the nose as chocolate, coffee, some spice (floral,), maybe some nuts. The taste is bonkers. It hits everything it says it does. A great beer and definitely worth the price of admission.

Pours pitch black with a small brown head. Smells strongly of chocolate, coffee, roast, and lightly of peppers. Taste is chocolate, coffee, hints of chili pepper heat. Full-bodied with a smooth, silky texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Prairie Bomb! finishes with a soft lingering pepper heat and soft coffee acidity.
