Sample at the HSC July 4th beer tasting. The beer is a dark brown color with a slight ruby-purple tint around the edges. Medium light beige head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, toasted malt and tropical fruit. Medium-bodied with flavors of resiny hops, caramel malt, melon and citrus. The finish is fruits and spices with a yeast aftertaste. Above average overall.

Bottle. Pours hazy mudbrown w a foamy off white head... Not a pretty beer but thatís ok! Nose is tart and tangy citrus hops... Def a little funk but tart fruits are a main component. The funk comes through a LOT more in taste. Super odd but I love it!

750 ml bottle from Binnys (Naperville, IL). Might as well start collecting and rating some of these. Pours a nice darker brownish black hue, good haziness, brownish ruby glow in the body and edges. Dark and bracing at times. A cakey light brown head pours and stays large, sticks around well, laces suitably. Aromas offer a plethora of elements, brett and funk meet Galaxy hops, roasty and toasty malts, black malt, and biscuits. Cobwebs, resiny and floral green hops, touches of fruit, white grape, and melon. Firm to potent dryness, cobwebs and a bit of rubber, plastic, and pine/spruce elements come on as it warms and settles a bit. Quite complex. Initial is medium bodied showing some plastic, funky brett, and a bit od bandaid. Firmer yet fleeting Galaxy element is fruity, floral, and a bit of white grape. Mellow citrus, firm pine and floral element. Some roastiness, biscuit and carmelized elements into the middle. Bread, more cobwebs, some bandaid, mellow roasty elements. A firm funkiness really sticks around up front, lingers on the finish. The middle and backend start to shows that darker base though, firm hop elements crisp floral, pine, and more mellow fruity hop profile. Dry, a bit toasty and ashy as we round the corner. That plastic or bandaid element starts to clear up as it settles. Itís a solid beer, certainly complex, but a bit off at times in spurts. Iíd say itís better than WWBBlue, but overall, seems to still have something off here. Galaxy was a fun hop that worked, but at times that plastic or bandaidy element interferes. The nose clears up a lot more as it settles, so Iíd recommend coming at it from that angle and rated it as such. Pretty solid beer overall. A bit of spiciness, firm dryness and funk. I get the Belgian slant.. But at the same time itís much different than Iíd ever expect

Bottle at Home with friends. Pour is murky brown with a small brown head and great lacing. Bretty, band-aid, herbal, hoppy, super medicinal, citrusy, grassy, somewhat plastic, and phenolic aroma. Taste is dark fruity, roasty, somewhat peppery, grassy, grapefruity, bretty, band-aid, grapey, and phenolic with a spicy finish. Medium mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Pretty cool stuff.

Bottle courtesy of Deyholla. Pours a dark but slightly translucent with off white fluffy head. Aroma is huge brett with some ash and citrus. Taste is really heavy funk which drys out the finish a lot. Some citrus hoppiness and toast but the funk is a bit overwhelming. A really good beer nonetheless.

Pours dark cloudy brown with an off-white head. Aroma is all Brett and galaxy hops. Taste is the same with a bit of dark malt sweetness present also, essentially all Brett funk and galaxy hops. Not bad but I prefer some of their other beers.

Wasnít a big fan of this fresh but now the yeast is playing a roll. Tastes like a hoppy farmhouse ale with a malty backbone.

Definitely aggressively carbonated, I had to eat the foam in order to keep this from foaming over in my glass. When eating it, the head is quite fruity, a bit smoky and phenolic, and actually quite spicy in a piquant black pepper like character. The beer is topped by a four finger thick, lightly browned tinged, tan colored head. The beer is a dark, concentrated brown color. The aroma is quite hoppy with lots of tropical fruit character, lychee, guava, ripe tangelo, some not quite ripe, green fruit notes, and a musky, tropical fruit note, as well as a light herbal and woody note. Once you really start to dig there is a phenolic character that gets slightly rubbery in character and a touch of spiciness.

The beer is fairly light bodied, definitely effervescent, but gets creamy textured as the carbonation dies down. The beer is dominated by the fruity, tropical hop character, it is dry enough that it is a bit reduced from the aroma; guava notes, lots of lychee, some woody mango notes, and ripe tangelo. There is quite a bit of spiciness here, it is not as piquant and hot as the head was, but it is still woody, definitely on the earthy side, and the phenolic character adds some spice; all of this is more apparent towards the finish. The fruit character gets more pronounced as the beer warms up, but there is also a bit of warming, higher alcohol notes in the finish that is accentuated by a light roast character. The roast character is fairly subtle, or at least, mostly overwhelmed by the hop character, but still provides an earthy base, a bit of burnt astringency in the finish and accentuating, toasted whole grain character that just peaks through.

Pretty tasty, the funky character is still fairly light, which is good, as a bit more would likely play up the plastic / rubbery / phenolic character a bit too much; right now this is at a nice enough level to add a funky edge to this beer without really getting in the way of the bright hoppiness.

Dark beer with a big foamy khaki colored head. Really foamy beer and very lively on the tongue. Funky horse blanket nose. Lots of spice in the flavor, with leather and earth and some green hops up front. This is an odd beer for those who do not prefer the funk.
