750ml bottle, from Party Source. Shared with the local group. Love the label. Didnít notice the little hot dog, at first. Dark brown color, not opaque. Hazier in a later pour. Good thin khaki head, good retention, good lace. Interesting nose. Grapefruit, citrus-peel, zest. Light pepper, spice. Great smooth texture, light carbonation. Nice floral notes, little herbal, very little roast. The "black" here is subtle, flavor-wise. Great stuff. This is my kind of black saison. Very easy to drink, too... Even after a second sample, I still didnít have this brew figured out. I wanted to continue to contemplate it. If I had a whole 750ml to myself, Iíd probably be occupied throughout the whole thing. Would like to revisit..

750 ml bottle shared by DrSilverworm- thanks again, Chris! Pour a muddy brown color with a beige head. The aroma is hoppy, with citrus, tropical fruits, earth, chocolate, toast, and a nice funk throughout. Same funky flavor, with tropical fruits, bitter dark chocolate, earth, and citrus peel. Medium-bodied, with a bitter, funky, fruity mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Really unusual beer. I normally donít go for dark saisons but this was good.

750 ml bottle to snifter (thanks DrSilverworm). Looks solid; a murky brown with off-white lacing. Smells good; earthy, hoppy, yeasty, and funky. Tastes like it smells, but a bit subtler, with a nice mouthfeel. Good beer.

Bottle. Pours with a near opaque next to black hued body with a very large and very retentive off-white to tan head that leaves good lace. Aromas are an interesting mix. Molasses, roast, tropical fruit, bread, earthy and barnyard phenolics. Manure and coffee. Passion fruit, nutshells, earth and biscotti. A black funky ipa by the aroma. Flavors are funky with rich chicory coffee, earth, manure, molasses, and bread. Deep chocolate. Slightly confusing beer for me as there are elements I like, and then a lot of elements that I feel clash. Some tropical fruit hoppiness and a bit of alcohol on the finish. Medium to low bitter, really dry. Funk gets a bit goat like (higher end of the spectrum). Interesting, but probably one of their few beers I would not buy again. Very lively carbonation. Lingering phenols and earth. Overall it is good, but I feel a bit confused. Just give me another bottle of íMerica, and Iíd be a happy camper.

On tap at Churchkey during CBC week. Pours a hazy, caramel brown with some thin, white head. Nose of chocolate, light tobacco, caramel, cola, rootbeer, light sarsaparilla. Flavor is lightly sweet, lightly herbal, malt, light pepper, sarsaparilla. Medium bodied, dry finish. Neat and drinkable.

Bottle. Dark brown pour, with thin, lingering, light tan head. Basically, a hoppy Brett beer, with roasted undertones of coffee and chocolate. Honestly... Great combination! Nose first hits you with earthy, herbaceous hops... Quickly followed by brett funk, and whiffs of coffee deep in the glass. On the palate, flavors of roasted coffee, are equally matched by layers of dank hops and funky Brett flavors... Which seem to always change proportion with each sip.. Some sips have more roasted coffee flavors, some sips are more dank hop filled, and some sips are just funky full of brett. Good complexity. Intriguing combination. Good weight and mouthfeel. Flavors of chocolate, coffee grounds, bitter hops and brett all cling to the palate for minutes. Very well made. Another home run from Prairie. --- tasted while on a long journey to understand the world around me...

750 c&c from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours very dark brown with a 4 finger creamy tan head. Aroma through all the bubbles is definitely brettish. And fruity. Full bodied. Flavor is brett, citrus, fruit, chocolate, smooth dark malt. Overall itís bretty/earthy. Exceedingly well done.

750 bottle. Tan laced carbonated pour. Hops in the nose along with a strong brett aroma. Roast. Chocolate. This is basically a brett beer meets a Black IPA. Total mess with your head and styles and it works.

Tap at Churchkey for the Craft Brewers Conference. Poured a dark brown, almost black color with a small tan head. Aroma was some roasted notes, some sweet malt character, and some yeasty notes. Flavor was some funk notes, sweetness. Pretty enjoyable. Like this one. Very refreshing, especially for a beer thatís clocking in at 8%.
