Smpled at ebls. Dark aque brown. An off white layer. I smell a little brett with fruot. Treacle. Brett is the major flavor. The treacle right behind. Definitely a different take on the style. Lots of grain here.

Dark brown pour. So we have funk, hops, light roast, odd combo. The leathery funky flavors are ok but they fight the style of hops and light toasty notes. Still not a bad beer tho.

Bottle from soonerchamps. The pour is a murky blackish color with a thick fluffy tan head on top that leaves some nice, thick, lacing. The aroma is rather funky, with citrusy and pear fruity notes, a touch of grass, and herbal tea. Thereís no real sign of this being a "black" farmhouse beer in the scent at all. The flavors start funky and lightly tart, thereís quite a bit of brett, with citrus and grape notes. Mid palate this switches gear to earth and dry roasty malt notes, although this is much less pronounced than most other black farmhouse/saisons Iíve had. The finish is bitter and hoppy, with a touch of unwanted ethanol. Pretty good beer and definitely interesting. Iím generally not a huge fan of the black saison but then again this doesnít really resemble one. The "black" element is there (at least a little in the flavor) but itís much more subtle than expected. It could stand to be a little more drinkable, meaning that alcohol that creeps in the finish prevents it from being a better beer. But overall this is good with no major flaws.

750 ml bottle from Star Grocery. It pours a rather dark brown color with a huge beige head that settles to a nice half inch frothy layer. The aroma is definitely dominated by musty hay brett, phenolics and a touch of leather with some pineapple, spice and dirty toasted malt. The flavor is similar. Good balance of pineapple, peachy hops and strong spicy, phenolic brett. I donít get much chocolate from the dark malts, maybe a touch of coffee and earthiness. It has a nice soft carbonation and full body. This is really darn good. I wouldnít age it much since I imagine the brett would get out of control after a while. It seems perfect to me right now.

750mL bottle purchased at The Davis Beer Shoppe. The aroma is all over the place with minty hop character, followed by some barnyardy yeast esters. After this all settles a little chocolate sweetness comes into play. Pretty roasted, too. Too much going on in the nose of this. Just all over the place. Mostly hazy brown cola colored body with a medium, fizzy light tan head that leaves decent lacing behind. Starts with spritzy carbonation, before some barnyard yeast esters come through heavily in the middle. Bitter spicy and grassy hops follow. Light burnt roastiness late with some urinal cake character. If you like urinal cake, this is your beer. I fucking hate it. Astringent and bitter as hell.

Bottle shared by Randal. Hoppy aromas. Murky brown pour with an off white head. Florally hop notes. A little bland and uninspiring...

Bottle shared by Dr Silverworm. Poured clear dark brown with an average frothy tan head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex toasted hop citrus aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Solid complex bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a smooth complex solid beer.

Bottle courtesy of Chase. Cheers! Pours a deep brown with a tan head. Nose is some roast, some chocolate, some light funk, and some big tropical fruit and tea leaves. Flavor follows with some roast, some dark chocolate, and some tea leaves and tropical fruit. Medium in body and interesting overall.
