Pours a deep umber black color with a finger of khaki foam. The nose is funky with a nice blend of grassy pine, grapefruit, chocolate malt and funky barnyard notes. The palate follows the nose nicely with great balance, big roasty chocolate backbone with lots of funky mango, pine sap and earthy yeast on the finish. Tasty dark funky !

750mL bottle. Pours a murky brownish color (maybe dirty is a better adjective?) Big grayish head with excellent retention and outstanding lacing. Nose is so funky that Bootsy Collins might have peed in it. Brett, Galaxy, lilies, basement, barn, black peppercorns... mouth is dry and medium bodied, mostly getting some roast and Belgian spiciness, with an abundance of yeasty funk that kinda overwhelms the hops. Still, a tasty brew and the first I’ve ever had from the Sooner State. Yippee kye-yay muddafuckas! Nice work.

I drove through OK City in 2006 and hiked Black Mesa on panhandle in 2010 but never had a beer from here which staring at blank spot on my rating map as upset me for some time, until now thanks to the AZ crew’s excellent driveway tasting. This is a strange brew that I dug. Pours dark black/red color with beige head. Nose is funky and citrusy and herbal. tastes of tart brett, grapes, lemon, light farmhouse, earth, black tea, and leather. Bitter finish. Like to give this one another try sometime

Smpled at ebls. Dark aque brown. An off white layer. I smell a little brett with fruot. Treacle. Brett is the major flavor. The treacle right behind. Definitely a different take on the style. Lots of grain here.

Dark brown pour. So we have funk, hops, light roast, odd combo. The leathery funky flavors are ok but they fight the style of hops and light toasty notes. Still not a bad beer tho.

Bottle from soonerchamps. The pour is a murky blackish color with a thick fluffy tan head on top that leaves some nice, thick, lacing. The aroma is rather funky, with citrusy and pear fruity notes, a touch of grass, and herbal tea. There’s no real sign of this being a "black" farmhouse beer in the scent at all. The flavors start funky and lightly tart, there’s quite a bit of brett, with citrus and grape notes. Mid palate this switches gear to earth and dry roasty malt notes, although this is much less pronounced than most other black farmhouse/saisons I’ve had. The finish is bitter and hoppy, with a touch of unwanted ethanol. Pretty good beer and definitely interesting. I’m generally not a huge fan of the black saison but then again this doesn’t really resemble one. The "black" element is there (at least a little in the flavor) but it’s much more subtle than expected. It could stand to be a little more drinkable, meaning that alcohol that creeps in the finish prevents it from being a better beer. But overall this is good with no major flaws.

750 ml bottle from Star Grocery. It pours a rather dark brown color with a huge beige head that settles to a nice half inch frothy layer. The aroma is definitely dominated by musty hay brett, phenolics and a touch of leather with some pineapple, spice and dirty toasted malt. The flavor is similar. Good balance of pineapple, peachy hops and strong spicy, phenolic brett. I don’t get much chocolate from the dark malts, maybe a touch of coffee and earthiness. It has a nice soft carbonation and full body. This is really darn good. I wouldn’t age it much since I imagine the brett would get out of control after a while. It seems perfect to me right now.
