3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tasted on 9/22/13 from a corked and caged 750mL bottle purchased at Louisville Beer Store. Pours dark, coffee brown with a very thick and rocky tan head that slowly recedes to average lacing. The nose is full of spicy yeast with just a touch of dark chocolate malt and some tropical fruit and citrus hops. The flavor is the same, really focused on the spicy, very dry, funky yeast, with the darker malt and unique hops providing more background. The body is medium with just livelier than average, stinging carbonation, and a long bitter hops and spicy yeast finish.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pour is black with tons of cardboard colored head with tons of lacing. Nose is sweet and hoppy with light notes of dark malt and a touch of farmy yeast. Taste is interesting, body is very light an airy with softer carbonation. Taste has less bright hops, darker malts and lightly roasted up front. A hint sweet and a touch of farmhouse yeast, citrus hops and a touch herbal through a lightly bitter finish.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Like the hop profile but getting smokey malt here with a little bit of funky yeast. The smoke is killing the otherwise really nice hop profile. Shared by atlaggie.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Ridiculously deep and dark brown coloured body with a nice, perfectly microfoamed, three centimetre tall light brown head. Aroma of brett, sour milk, grapes, wax, bread, yeast, hay, grass and a bit of light hops - not much though. Medium-bodied; Assertive spicey yeast character at first with a lot of breadiness, some sour notes, hints of grapes and and astringent bitterness at first with a great deal of floral hops, hay and grass kicking in on the finish. Aftertaste shows some depth with the yeast and bread flavours hitting the hardest and a little nuttiness and a definite earthiness and dry flavour finishing it all off. Overall, an interesting and complex beer, but nothing too great in any of the dimensions for it to be a great beer nor one worth searching out for to spend a lot of money. I get hype on some beers and breweries, but I just let a specific beer (without a label) stand up on its own, and this one is average at best, period. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from Small Batch Liquors in Denver, Colorado on 07-June-2014 for US$7.99 sampled at home in Washington on 24-July-2014.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500 ml (I think ?) bottle from Les Vignerons. Pitch black, no light passing through, with a huge, creamy and fluffy, forever lasting light beige head. Brett and flowers on the nose, relatively hoppy, some light dark fruits, caramel, lots of fruit esters and spices. Quite fruity overall. Completely different in the mouth: much more malty than hoppy, little sourness/acidic edge, not too much roasted malts/chocolate/coffee presence as I was expecting. Mild bitterness, candy sugar, spices and berries in the aftertaste. Average to lively carbonation, medium to full body, slightly creamy texture. Looks and smells great, but the flavour is just not blended and harmonious enough, imho. Still nice.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Colin. Murky dark brown beer, big fluffy pale cream colour head. Airy light palate. Big brett. Touches of fruit and light malts but this is a brett bomb! Light finish.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, shared with BBGTC feat. Yngwie and Meilby. Clear dark brown body, large foamy off-white head. Nose is bretty stable tones with loads of hay and straw, citrus, mild red berries and hints of horse blanket. Taste is bitter herbs, citric peel, hay, straw and hints of grass, horsey barnyard tones, cold coffee and dark berries. Medium body and carbonation. Pretty nice farmhouse brew, only not quite my style of beer (which of course draws the score down a bit).

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Corked bottle: Pours a deep brown with amber highlights, lasting head. Lovely combo of barnyard wildness and toasty dark ale. Wonderfully complex yet still restrained. The 2nd best brew I have from Prairie.
