2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Darken pour with light tan lingering head. Aroma of citrus and funk. Taste is uber dry and hoppy with not enough wild yeast attributes. Tastes is slightly unbearable and it was really hard to finish.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
16.9 ounce bottle. Served in a tulip, the beer pours dark brown/black with a couple inch frothy tan head that stayed around for a while. Thereís also a good amount of lacing. Interesting aroma, the brew smells like roasted malt, tropical fruit, brett, blackberries, and a bit of citrus. Itís nice fruity and roasty aroma. The taste is interesting too, it tastes like roasted malt, peppery spice, bittersweet chocolate, citrus zest, tropical fruit, pine, berries and earthiness. Mouthfeel/body is medium, itís a bit oily and is well carbonated. This is a beer that I liked more and more the longer I drank it. I guess Iíll have to try more black farmhouse ale/saisons! Iíd like to get another bottle at some point, itís definitely worth a try. $9.99 a bottle.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours frothy with a cream coloured head that stays. Aromas of farmhouse. Actually has a nice sour taste which is much more subtle than an actual sour mash and makes it nicer in my opinion.

Bottle, thanks to Drake. The pourís deep brown with a tight tan head. The nose is raspberry punch, farmhouse yeast. Belgian summery countryside. Floral meadow hops. The taste is more raspberry, meaty plum. Moderate umami. Grass. Strong rustic yeast. Medium body, active carbonation. Overall, really nice.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a solid black with a brown head and lacing. Slightly funky with lots of biscuit and some hoppy grass and resin in the aroma, with a flavor of biscuit dark malt with a mild hop finish over a medium body.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A very interesting beer. Pours black with a persistent foamy tan head. The aroma is cucumber, horse blanket, brett, mango, magnolia seed and pine cone. Very confusing and intriguing. Bitterness is definitely magnolia seed, tropical fruit and apple seed. Noticeable absence of sweetness except for the kind of sweetness you find in a crabapple or bitter orange. Slightly metallic aftertaste. Palate is light and slightly astringent. Moderate mouthfeel. This is a beer for jazz and cigars. It nakedly brash and yet holds together nicely. It is certainly not for everyone. Really pushes the boundaries of beer, but still fits into the zoology of the farmhouse style.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
My fiancé Kate rated this beer. I sipped it. It's was very good. Great tasting saison. The black color doesn't seem to add to the flavor, but it makes it mysterious.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 19/20
Tasted on 24 Jan 14 -- Poured from a 500mL bottle into a newly acquired Prairie Tulip glass! Wow the first thing from this beer is the hop stank! Very pungent, my friends said it smelled like farts, but I really thought it was some very stanky hops mixed with the funk from the yeast. The flavor however, was almost a 180į flip! Very clean, simple, well-executed malt bill that worked extremely well. Overall this beer was an experience, something totally unexpected and greatly appreciated.
