2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Darken pour with light tan lingering head. Aroma of citrus and funk. Taste is uber dry and hoppy with not enough wild yeast attributes. Tastes is slightly unbearable and it was really hard to finish.

Very nice black pour with 1 finger dark tan head. Super hoppy aroma with a very green and leafy character. Very nuanced flavor with notes of tropical fruit and citrus. Roast and coffee notes show as well. Lots of citrus and juicy fruit in the flavor with some bitter chocolate too. Awesome.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Luscious frosty, frothy, and rocky chocolate cream head on a smooth looking dark chocolate amber body. Delightful looking. Debittered smooth roastyness punctuated by sharp farmhouse and funky lactobacillus aromas. Earthy and complex--a nod to Phantome. Spicy farmhousey body. Funky bitter sour, earthy, quite complex, and medium to full-bodied. Lacto-bacillus throughout this smoothly roasted saison. This tastes like an old-world saison made close to the earth. Outstanding craftsmanship.

The funky galaxy pours a dark brown with massive foamy head. Pretty nice aroma, sour fruit and roasted malt. Taste is bitter piney hops with grape and ash. A very unique brew.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brown or black pour with a few inches of beige head. Aroma of leather, dried berries, metallic/iron, very peppery, lots of florals, lemon, meaty summer sausage too. Soft carbonation with a dry finish. Lots going on with this one. Galaxy hops come off as piney flavor, tastes of grape, peppery funky yeast, cracker-y yeast and an ashy smokey taste on finish like a campfire after being put out. Some similarities to Stone’s Cali-Belgique IPA but a bit funkier/ashier.

Another random bottle from Louisville Whole Foods. This is a busy, complex and tasty beer. Good hoppy bitterness, a little funk, some earthiness, plus a little chocolate and coffee. Really nice.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle: Thanks, Jeff! Mostly black all around with a HUGE, mocha colored head that lasts for days, chunky & perched atop the black brew. Aroma is kind of strange & all over the place with lots of clashing elements... grass, mild Brett funk, wood, pineapple, roast, more grass, citrus peel, bubblegum (hinting at Belgian yeast), hint of cocoa powder... Quite a lot to take in all at once. Taste starts with a bit of char & roasted malt, even with faint coffee beans, leading into a big pot of ashy, peppery, & herbal hops... Notes of zesty grass & fruity orange peel play over the roasted malt, leading to a quite dry & staunchly bitter finish. Unique, that’s for sure, but the flavor combinations don’t compliment each other as gracefully as I’d hoped. Still good overall, but my expectations were higher.

Hazy brown pour with nice lacing. Funky barnyard, citrusy hops, and some chocolate in the aroma. Fantastic taste - dry with some nice brett. The roasted plays nice citrus, tartness. Great beer.

Bottle - Citrus, perfumy hops and a little funk. Jet black with a bubbly brown head. Grass, citrus, funk and nice hop bitterness that plays well with the rest of the flavors. Very perfumy throughout but nicely done and balanced.

The brewery that hipsters laud all day about. And with this brew with good reason. Great farmhouse ale! Dark hue. Extra carbonation from bottle has an airy aroma of malts. Lacy head. Roasted flavor. A blend of winter burn and the sensibility of a cool spring breeze. Performs like a saison. The body is lacking but makes up in flavor. A nice after taste. I prefer their more darker beers. And I can sense a brewery that uses lots of malts, hops to create complex flavors. A really good beer, if I might add.
