sweet citrus lemon floral hops. Yeast. Very light but strong. Some white wine. Taste is spot on to the aroma. Everything is so pronounced but blended so well there’s not too much of one Taste. Very nice. Leaves my tongue tingling.

Bottle. Pours a neon/glowing yellow with big white head that retains for days. Aroma is slightly dank Nelson hops/cat piss. Nicer as it warms. Taste is gummy tropical fruit candy, dry white wine and some bitter NZ hops. Overall, this is another unique Prairie siason that has more of the barnyard thing going on that most saisons.

Bottle. Hazy bright golden yellow. Bottle-conditioned natural carbonation builds a pillowy and patchy white head. Sharp and seemingly sugary tropical fruit / pineapple aroma character that seems to be from both the Nelson Sauvin and the phenols and acids produced by the yeast. Nelson Sauvin are one of my favorite hops overall, and one of the few "new world" strains that I enjoy in nearly every beer in which they are featured. But the aromatic hop character here is more like a strong pineapple / pear / fruit cocktail syrup and less floral than the Moa Pale Ale, which is my favorite Nelson Sauvin-hopped beer of all time. Also, this one has less of a real fruit smell, meaning it smells like fruit candies or fruit syrup rather than actual pieces of pineapple, peach, apricot and lemon. After it warms and opens a bit the yeast seems to blend into and mute out some of the hop aroma, so it becomes more soapy / musty / phenolic, and it’s chalky to boot. I got the same yeast character in the first two Prairie beers I tried. Highly effervescent approach of transparent malt sweetness (really I love pilsner malt and can usually identify it but here it seems lost), turning bitter, sour and bandaid-like across the tongue and palate. So: yeasty, sour, tart, soapy, etc., that ruins it for me. I might start to think that the house strain is the "brettanomyces, ale yeast and wine yeast" mixture I read about for the Prairie Ale. I guess my tastes align more with cleaner beer, and if this was less yeasty and bandaid-like then I could probably really get into the Kiwi hops here. There are a lot of breweries that cover poor technique and cheap ingredients with brutal bitterness and alcohol and treatments and such. I don’t think Prairie is one of them. I think Prairie has the talent to brew exceptional beer, but I think what the brewers like is their sort of musty, brett-heavy, sourish, bitter, barrel-treated beer. Good for them, sucks for me.

Cloudy yellow gold pour with a tall, fluffy off white head. Aroma is loaded with bright citrusy hops and nice fruity and slightly funky yeast notes, a little pepper, nice cereal notes, a little biscuit and tart stone fruit. Flavor is very yeasty up front, with a sort of sour-doughy funk, light earthy fruit, lots of tart and bitter stone fruit, bright citrus notes, a little booziness, light pepper and spicy notes to the finish. Medium body, with a creamy entry leading into a pillowy blanketing cascade of very fine, but slightly sharp carbonation and ending with an off dry, slightly chalky finish. Really good stuff, tastes and smells great (though pretty boozy for my taste in a Saison) and what an interesting and enjoyable mouthfeel.

Bottle. Extremely hazy light gold with a big rocky white head. Aroma and taste are tropical and citrus fruit and earthy, musty funk. Slight rubbery aftertaste. Good dry palate and strong carbonation. Really enjoyed this one.

Damn. This is mega funky. And just when you think the funk aroma is done, in wafts more farmhouse. Pours a hazy orange juice color. I get a touch of the Nelson but the crazy funk from the yeast is the star of this show and I like it.

From 9/29 notes. Shared with John for Breaking Bad finale tasting, beer #5. 500ml bottle pours bright hazy yellow with big 2 finger pillowy head. Nose is big grassy pine, leaves. Mouthfeel is smooth and full with medium carbonation. Taste is a pine forest explosion, big grassy notes, forest floor, mossy, herbal. Finish is more bitter grassy hops with a touch of warmth. Awesome.

Bottle. Aroma is sour citrus and goat cheese, foggy yellow color. Strong citrus that dominates the experience and not very complex or balanced hop notes. Kinda underwhelming and just seems like an okay IPA. For a farmhouse ale it’s mediocre.

Has a sour milky aroma and a foggy appearance. The palate is on the thinner side with a few tiny bubbles. Not as sour in the front end as expected but the finish has a hint of lemon. The dairy funk is a little too much to make this one work for me. Would go great with a cheese to help me get past some of the more overwhelming flavors and reveal some of the more subtle ones.
