ĎMerica is a single malt, single hop farmhouse ale. Itís brewed with floor malted pilsner and 3lbs per bbl Nelson Sauvin hops. The beer is conditioned with 2 brett strains and wine yeast. The Nelson hops provide white wine flavors while Brettanomyces add a juicy quality to the beer.

Single Malt, Single Hop Saison. 500ml bottle. Pours light and golden. Spicy aroma. Hop forward and very wet on the back end. Single noted but really easy to drink and enjoy. Not too bad.

Pours unclear thick cloudy lemon with a huge creamy white head, beautiful really! The aroma brings the farmhouse yeast wild like in nature forward with a soft hop profile subtle in the background. The flavor brings the Nelson Sauvin showcasing so nicely, unique pine like twist. The beer then switches to the farmhouse yeast dominating to the end, no bite but definitely prevalent flavors of a wild yeast strain.

Bottle at Tria Rittenhouse in Philadelphia. Poured a hazy goldenrod with plenty of carbonation building a tall, pillowy white head that hung around all day. Funky, yeasty aroma. Big sour punch up front followed by lemon zest, lightly toasted cereal, and fresh torn herbs. Prickly carbonation makes for an interesting mouthfeel as it plays against the silky texture. Dry, quick finish.

Aroma: Strong rosemary presence that you can smell on the other side of the room; a bit more tropical fruit and white grape up close from the Nelson Sauvin; a light cheesecloth note as well. Appearance: Opaque yellow gold with a huge mountain of white, frothy head. Flavor: Matches the nose; Nelson Sauvin up front with some prickliness from the yeast (rosemary/cheesecloth); a bit of acidity comes in toward the finish. Palate: Light body, thick texture, lively carbonation, bitter finish. Overall: Wonderful stuff.

Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy light yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (herbs), moderately yeasty (barnyard), with notes of plastic/band-aid, lemon juice, sumac, pepper. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. So here we have Krebs íMerica, eh? Prairie is yet another pseudo-brewer like Mikkeller, Evil Twin, Stillwater, Brash, Clown Shoes, Perfect Crime, and on and on and on. Frankly Iím getting a little tired of these companies, because itís dreadfully clear that the quality depends heavily on the facility where itís brewed, not quite as much on the company owner. Is Mikkeller any good? Not if itís made at De Proef, as has been proven repeatedly. If itís made at Amager, thereís a better chance. Clown Shoes sucks, but it might be Ipswichís fault, we may never know. So honestly...if you have something to say as a brewer, itís hard to respect you if you just farm everything out to other breweries. Itís quite possible in this case the Prairie folks are actually hands-on during brewing, but in cases like Mikkeller or Stillwater, no chance. So I dunno, this sorta thing is really getting common and itís kinda annoying. But enough about that (*grumble*)...this beer is just ok. Itís overly plastic-like in the nose, kinda sour and a little dirty (plastic again) in the mouth. But there are nice rustic elements in the nose, and the appearance is nice. So...meh...wouldnít buy it again, but I guess itís slightly above average. Too expensive for the quality in any event.

Bottle at the parentals. Pour is hazy golden yellow with a huge white head and great lacing. Big herbal, funky, lemon peel, band-aid, floral, grassy, biscuit, straw, medicinal aroma. Very Orval-esque. Taste is so bright, floral, grassy, band-aid, funky, lemon zest, straw, clean biscuity malt, white pepper, and herbs with a spicy bitter bite on the backend. Light body with high carbonation. This beer blew me away. So clean, yet funky and hoppy. Very well-built and I canít believe it is 7.5%. I could drink case after case of this stuff.

Bottle my father got me from Bierkoning in Amsterdam. Many thanks! Pours very hazy pale yellow with a big frothy white head that slowly dissipates while leaving some soapy lacing and trace on the glass. Smell is fruity and slightly funky with crackers, pineapple juice, freshly cut grass, mango, papaya, pink grapefruit juice, passionfruit, ripe gooseberries, dry soil, Chardonnay wine, white grapes, hay, white pepper corns and hints of barnyard. Taste is bitter, fruity and funky with crackers, barnyard, moist hay, pineapple juice, pink grapefruit juice, moist wood, dry soil, leather, white pepper corns, pine needles, grape juice, overripe tropical fruits and hints of yellow curry powder, alcohol and manure. Mouthfeel is soft, dry, slightly round, sightly fruity tart, tiny astringent and medium bodied. finish is bitter and slightly funky with crackers, hay, barnyard, grapefruit rinds, dry soil, lemon zest, pineapple juice, dry wood, white grapes and white wine. Another extremely tasty offering from Prairie, these guys just keep on givingÖ

(750ml bottle) Pours a cloudy maize body with a small white head. Aroma of orange, peach, urine, grapefruit, herbs, and manure. Flavor of orange, pineapple, grapefruit, brett, light pine, yeast, and earth with a dry, bitter finish.

Bottle, big thanks to Bruce! It pours hazy pale golden with a small fluffy white head. The nose is fresh, piney, orange squash, musty, herbal, brett, earthy, varnish, hay and light herbal notes. The taste is crisp, piney, grapefruit, orange, lime peel, hay, musty, earth, brett, mild astringency, spice and a touch of alcohol. Medium body, fine carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Big flavour, but a bit musty. Not sure if the balance is quite there, but decent nonetheless.

Bottle cheers to Bruce. Hazy golden pour with a tiny white rim for a head on top leaving soapy lacing all over the glass. Nose is exquisite. So juicy and tangy with heavy lemon rind, loads of lime zest, huge citric hop and pepper. Damn it smells good! Taste is quite close but itís just a touch more muddled and has a slight heat to it which I donít mind. A load of lemon zest, heavy rind, sorbet, sweetness with bitterness on the finish. Just huge citrus with a very miniscule hint of sourness. Probably not quite as sophisticated as the Tired Hands HandFarm but very well done. Nice stuff
