3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
FROM NOTES: October 18, ’13.
A: HOLY FUNKY! The Nelson Sauvin hops give off a really musty white wine, overtly floral pungent character with a funky Belgian yeast mix.
A: Pours a very light moderately hazy golden color with two fingers of foam which quickly recedes and leaves no lacing.
T: Follows the nose with floral, musty white wine notes, a Belgian yeasty funk with hints of mustard and lemon notes. Lemony and funky yeasty finish.
P: medium body and moderate carbonation.
O: This saison just isn’t for me, but I can see that some make like the funky mix of strong flavors.

Bottle... Pours cloudy and yellow with no head. The aroma is crackery and bready with a lightly-acidic vinous note. Full-bodied with gentle carbonation. The flavor is sweet and bready with a hint of white wine and a whisper of lemon zest. Yeasty bitterness in the finish. Bottle courtesy of biggsbowler!

"My my my...lovin the hoppy funky brews. More farm than just the traditional saison yeast. Tropical fruit and barnyard, finishes bone dry. LOVE it. One of my top few in style. Wish it were a little cheaper."

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampled under less than ideal circumstances B.C."H."; dirty grey-straw beer. Hoppy nose, with exotic fruit, grapes and some cat’s pee; other grains, perfumed soap. Bitterish-wry, again other grains and wild fruit, slightly veggie. Bit of lunaria. Hopimprint less in the flavour than in the nose, that smacks of APA/IPA and Nelson Sauvin, rather than of ’saison’. Bit of grist-slick, light body, carbonation gone. Anything can be called Saison. Doesn’t make it Hainautois for that matter. Many thanks to the Vermeerschbros

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Fantastic beer. Has a pleasantness, reminiscent of Saison Dupont, but it’s a bit edgier and funkier. Bright esters of citrus and rind in the finish, along with a peppery bitterness. Slight barnyard funkiness gives it depth. Meadowy aromas in the background. Enjoyed it a lot.

Bottle from Belmont Station, Portland. Pours a fairly cloudy golden orange, decent amount of white head. Aroma barnyard, citrus. Body very lively, lush, finish almost juicy in citrus character. Nice but not outstanding.
