Bottle from burg. Thanks! Pours pitch black with a small brown head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, peppers, a little booze, and big time earthy spicy coffee. Flavor is mostly coffee, a bit of a pepper bite on the way down, and a very nice lingering vanilla and some sweetness (rum?) on the palate. I maybe inly get the rum sweetness in the aftertaste, and this otherwise doesn't have much barrel going on. But even that is reaching. Very high carbonation for a BA beer, with the earthy coffee and pepper spice cutting through the viscosity. As it warms it becomes thicker and more chocolatey. Where is the rum here?

UPDATED: MAR 31, 2014 Bottle: Thick black pour with some mild dark brown & a solid tan head on top. Aroma full of espresso beans, ash, light chilies, some chocolate malt, & a faint bit of vanilla. Very mild boozy rum character. Taste is smooth & well integrated. Notes of chocolate, light cinnamon, faint chilies, vanilla, oily coffee beans, mild dry oak, with a smooth finish. Fudge, faint chili, sweet rum finish. Smooth, thick body. Seriously awesome stuff, though I think I may prefer the original BOMB.

Update: Had this one again, same batch, a few months older at this point. Less coffee than before, although I’d still say coffee is the front runner of the flavors. Rum barrel is more noticeable & adds a more delicate sweetness, although you still get a big roastiness from the malt & coffee. Light cocoa, burnt coffee ground & sweet rum finish, not much in the way of chilies anymore.

355mL shared at Black Friday El Cerrito release line. Clear deep brown pour. KBS style Wispy tan lacing. Nose is rich coffee, coconut, brownie, Taste is mild warming, decent chili heat but it’s soft. Palate feels a tad woody and dusty.

12 ounce bottle. Thanks to my friendly trader in Oklahoma. Pours almost black with a very small tan head. Great aroma of coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and alcohol. Taste is roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, chiles, dark fruit, and rum. Some heat generated by the chiles. Very good stuff.

Bottle generously shared by Randall. Blowin’ up (as they say) for rating number 1700. Dark brown pour with a tan head. Peanut butter aromas. Dark roasted malts, vanilla, mild cocoa, with some heat from the chiles. Very complex and tasty. The rum and oak notes almost fade into the background on this one. Chocolate sub tones. Very tasty and the 15% ABV is well hidden. Bravo...

Bottle @ Pat’s tasting. Black pour with a tan head. Coffee, coffee, and coffee. Chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt, and graham cracker. Nice coconut notes as well. Flavor is nicely sweet. Tons of vanilla, coconut, and graham cracker. Coffee really dominates, though. Nice chocolate with just a hint of spice. Noms.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2013 Fantastic 12oz Bottle art here - Prairie provides hope to the craft beer community in Oklahoma, no doubt. This one pours heavy dark brown with a one finger, fine bubbled khaki head into this snifter. It retains modestly, with some light spotting present, eventually providing a light ring around the glass. The nose is coffee bean dominant, moving to vanilla and some dark fruits here - cacao reveals itself as well, with a hint of booze present, too. I found, overall, that the flavor profile has an incredible balance from one tasting note to the next, and on top of that : the booze takes a back seat ; theres a hint of heat but for the abv, i’m impressed. Initially, I have to say I was not. And then I realized the subtle nuances present here as it warmed and had to eat my words, so to speak. The flavor profile reveals dark fruit and cacao, vanilla and coffee bean are certainly present , with a slight fruity / earthen barrel treatment present, moving to a very simple hint of heat. This is most certainly a pirate bomb to the face - Much respect to Prairie

Wow this is an absolutely amazing imperial stout! I love Prairie Bomb, but this just really amps that beer up big time! Be sure to start the beer at about 45 degrees and sip on it for a half hour or so and enjoy all the changes and complexities in flavor that come out. Coffee, Chocolate, Rum, Cocoa, chilies, vanilla and oak. Phenomenal brew! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
