Pirate bomb is our beer Prairie Bomb! aged in rum casks. The flavor from the casks helps impart more vanilla and coconut flavors to the beer while helping to add more body and smoothness to the already explosive and expressive flavors of Bomb!

Pour is black with a tan bubbly head. Nose is heavy rum and ashy malt, hints of cake malt when swirled, but faint and overshadowed by ash. Flavor is worse than it smells, overly sweet and ashy, metallic note, faint malt but very little. Soft feel, full bodied, light carb.

Bottle, black black beer, black walnut colored head quickly fades to small islands and a ring. Aroma is molasses and smoke, molasses, vanilla, chocolate, chilies. Taste is vanilla, burnt sugar, chilies, oak, rum, stale coffee, Palate is fairly rich, but not syrupy, carbonation subdued. Finish is a touch of hops, chilies, and toasted barley. This combo somehow doesn’t work for me. It’s more like stale coffee and sriracha than delicious.

Turtles (1981) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - SEP 18, 2015
355ml bottle from Systembolaget, bought in March 2015, ABV 14%. Black with a small compact, creamy beige head. Roasted and aged aroma, dark chocolate, vanilla and booze. Full-bodied, smooth, silky mouthfeel. The taste of oak barrels and rum takes over the big picture, hints of vanilla, espresso beans and the heat of the chili is in the background. Finish dry with wood and hay.

aroma + taste: rum, darrrk chocolate, cherries in chocolate, sweetness full, thick body, most expensive beer I drunk so far but forth every penny ;) after half of bottle you can feel scratches on your throat thats from chilli ! alcohol is very warming, but not bothering, it is silent killer for your head :) classy way to get drunk ;) if you see it in shop - empty your pockets !

Geiserich (4119) - Linz, AUSTRIA - AUG 11, 2015
Bottle shared by Werckmeister at RB Tasting Linz, many thanks. Black color, dark brown, low head. Aroma is complex with dark chocolate, ash, chilli, herbs, stinging nettle, alcohol. Flavor with dark chocolate, chilli, herbs, sharpness. Interesting but the chilli and alchol notes are too intensive.

Draufht. Pitch black, thick beige head. Aroma and taste is mix of dark chocolate, pralines, cherries/plums in liquor, rum, oak, roastiness, coffee. All served in a big, full bodied, thick and oily beer. Softly carbonated, silky smooth on the palate. Alcohol very well hidden, shows only as a warm burning. Only flaw is very low acet aldehyde, but that was just a nuanse in all this fantastic mix of flavours. Outstanding beer.
