Bottle. Poured a dark brown color with an off white head. This sums it up -> WOW. This is one fantastic beer. Vanilla, chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, and just all around goodness. Alcohol content hidden. WOW.

Sampled at the RBSG 2014. It poured an almost black color with a tan head. The aroma was of coffee, chocolate, vanilla and some alcohol. The taste was of roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, chilis, dark fruit and some rum. Nice.

Green wax bottle to Spiegleau stout glass. I decided,to rate this tonight because I loved it when I had it before. I have been thinking since then that it’s one of my favorite stouts. Curious to see how it compares to others I have rated. Black pour with mahogany hues. I had to coax the head a bit when pouring and was worried that the beer was kind of flat. The head has reduced to a millimeter thick toasted marshmallow color. The head coats the glass momentarily with a swirl but there is minimal traditional lace. Aroma is anise, ash, balers chocolate, and rum. The taste is what makes this a winner. It’s roasty, bittersweet, smooth, and the rum treatment is amazingly well integrated into the flavors of the beer. I got more chili spice on the first sip but now just feel a warmth from it and the rum in the back of my throat. Very pleasing and becomes more enjoyable as you drink it. Vanilla dances on the tongue after each sip. There’s barely any carbonation but the body is not lacking from it. In fact, this is quite drinkable given all of the other characteristics. Just delightful.

Black pour with creamy tan head. Aroma of rum, chocolate, marshmallow, and roast. Taste is chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, marshmallow, and just a touch of pepper heat. Pretty darn good.

Green wax. Pours black with lasting mocha head, great sudsy lacing. Aroma is fudge chocolate, spicy vanilla, espresso. Taste is rum, vanilla, espresso, fudge brownies, slight hint of chili flavor in the finish but no heat as previous bombs have head. Very nice barrel treatment as it complements the beer but is not overwhelming. I like this one over the original and Bible. Would love an apple brandy barrel treatment - here’s hoping for the future.

Black pour, tan head. Nose is big rum barrel, vanilla, chocolate, spices. Taste is much of the same, lots of rum barrel but all is blended very nicely. Smooth, full, & mouth-coating.

Le chocolat et le vieillissement en fût de rhum s’amalgament parfaitement. La corpulence est celle d’un glaçage à gâteau avec des miettes de café, chili et vanille qui majore la complexité.

After being slightly let down by Bomb!, my hopes were not too high for this one. So, what a wonderful surprise I had when I poured this beauty into a glass for drinking! Aromas of big vanilla sweetness, dry cocoa, coffee...even a slight spice from the chiles. Much more inviting than I anticipated. Taste...yes!! This was much richer and fuller than the regular Bomb! Great harmony among a rich malt bill that supported loads of vanilla and cocoa interplay. The coffee kept the bitterness in check, while the chiles provided just enough kick to cut the sweetness. Then and ever so delicate rum barrel character melds into the backbone of this lingering, oily finish. Fantastic beer!

My Bottom Line:
Chocolate cake and its generous icing are met by long pepper spiciness and heat in this gargantuan dessert creation.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam surrounds the darkness.
-This one felt sweeter/heavy than the ’regular’ Bomb!.
-The aroma is very pleasant when you are in the mood for dessert.
-Rum barrel presence is noted and harmonious with the rest of the brew.
-Spiciness is not as apparent as in the ’regular’ Bomb!.

Bottle.
