COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pirate Noir is our Jamaican rum barrel aged imperial oatmeal stout. This beer takes our already delicious Prairie Noir and adds intense notes of vanilla, coconut, and rum to the beer.

Bottle shared by Phil. Black pour with a tan head. Roasted malt, rum, chocolate, and soap on the nose. Charred wood, some booze, and a touch of vanilla. The flavor is kind of soapy. A bit of booze, rum, and roast. Dark chocolate, hints of vanilla, and charred oak. Maybe a touch of fruit. Kind of disappointing, particularly next to the other variants.

Bottle pour at EBF. Dark pour with some dark head. Dark malts, oak, rum, vanilla aromas. Flavor is rum forward, some vanilla, dark malts and woody tones.

Pour is jeg black, with a very small tan head that quickly devolves to a ring. Aroma is delightfull, chocolate, slight coffee, licorice, slight vanilla, caramel, faint roasted malts, slight wood. Aroma is somewhat subdued, but when the aftertaste hits, a bomb of rum goodness hits your palate. Slight spice in here for sure. Taste has some slight bitterness to it, but is dominantly sweet, and slight alcohol heat to it. Semi full bodied, with a rather flat carbonation. Deffinitly not bad.

Keg at Craft Beer Co, Covent Garden, London. A black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Rich, sweet, rum, vanilla aroma. Tastes similar, rich, sweet, rum, boozy, vanilla, a little chocolate and caramel. Very nice boozy Imperial Stout on my birthday.

Black color with mocha head. Aroma has intense dark malt, dark sugar and some spirit barrel, I wouldn’t really guess it’s rum. Taste starts promising with chocolate, fudge, caramel and some vanilla sweetness. In the middletaste I get a weird acrid flavor, maybe some tannins from the wood barrels. This doesn’t fit very well with the rest of the flavors. Body is heavy and has a very smooth mouthfeel. Really nice overall. The only thing that spoils it a bit for me is the slightly tart note from the taste.

Bottle to tulip - from the Jane’s Beer Shop SF Beer Week bottle release. Beautiful rum aroma. Chocolate. Viscous.

Pours black with low tan head. Aroma of muscovado, vanilla, rum barrels, raisins, dates, light cinnamon. Taste is sweet and very boozy, rich dried fruit and berries, not much else. Except for the rum burn. Body is rich and creamy, but with that boozy finish that just keeps going on, and on, and on... Compared to Pirate Bomb! this is just so much boozier, it is in fact incredible considering the ABV.

From tap @ Basement. Black pour with a a few odd sized bubbles in a creamy beige foam. The nose is woody with raisins, apfelschnaps, chocolate, sugary dark malts. Taste is sweet , slight green character but just hints along with all the molasses , rummy notes, creamy chocolate notes. Sweet roasted aftertaste. Subdued ba flavours. Really well balanced flavours and a very creamy texture.

Bottled. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, vanilla, licorice notes and rum. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry with alcohol notes. Medium to full bodied, oily to creamy texture and flat to soft carbonation. An excellent Impy. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Dark brown colour. No head. Thin round of pale brown froth. Rum, raisins, bread in the aroma. Some sweetness of the rum at first. Spices in the middle. Sourness and sweetness in the end. Rum is dominating. Quite heavy bodied, low carbonated, sweet, but still tasty imperial stout that has quite straight and not so ambivalent palate.
