Pirate Noir is our Jamaican rum barrel aged imperial oatmeal stout. This beer takes our already delicious Prairie Noir and adds intense notes of vanilla, coconut, and rum to the beer.

Bottle shared by Phil. Black pour with a tan head. Roasted malt, rum, chocolate, and soap on the nose. Charred wood, some booze, and a touch of vanilla. The flavor is kind of soapy. A bit of booze, rum, and roast. Dark chocolate, hints of vanilla, and charred oak. Maybe a touch of fruit. Kind of disappointing, particularly next to the other variants.

12oz bottle, from Dutch’s for $11. Bottle is labeled 12%. Black color. A vigorous pour yields a beautiful half-finger brown head. Leaves good ropes and bits of lace. Bigger body, with an awesome super-creamy thick chewy texture. Mild slick finish, light carbonation. Awesome dark chocolate, oats, mild roast, touch of coffee. Nice bit of rum barrel spicy fruity edge to it, seeing the coconut, vanilla. Moderate bitter taste, bigger sweet, just big taste all around. Nice mild alcohol warmth. Less alcohol than expected base off of what I was hearing. Fantastic chewiness, probably the best texture of any stout I’ve had from Prairie so far. Totally awesome. Amazing to enjoy with my sandwich. Might have grabbed another if this wasn’t $1/oz.

Completely black with a thin head. The beer is dominated by dark fruits, black pepper, rum and oak. Not a big rum guy I guess.Thin for the style. Easy to drink just didn’t care for it.

355 ml bottle. Enjoyed at San Diego, CA. Pours a black colour with a small beige head. Aroma is really spicy with wood, black peppers and rum. Flavour of strong roasted malts, salty licorice, black peppers, rum booziness and chocolate. Full bodied. Oily mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. Dessert. I really like the aroma.

Dark cola brown color with half finger of khaki colored head. Smells of chocolate chip cookie dough mixed with rum, coconut, a slight woody/nuttiness, vanilla. Taste is sweet chocolate liqueur, rum, some spicy hop notes or maybe just an alcohol burn, woody/nuttiness like in the smell, some coconut, vanilla. Run is fairly prominent, sometimes a bit too much. Sweetness masks most of the alcohol though. Medium mouth. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Brought back to ND from OK by Craig and shared -- Stubby bottle poured into a Prairie 2nd Anniversary teku. It pours black with a mocha ring of head around the glass. Aroma is burnt sugar coconut and rich malt. Flavor is dark sugar, caramel; smooth and rich. Flavors cascade in your mouth with varying degrees of sweetness and depth. Darn good beer.
