Prairie Ale is our classic saison. We brew this beer with pilsner malt, wheat malt, flaked wheat, and cane sugar. A healthy dose of saaz hops are used to add a spicy element to the beer. Prairie Ale is fermented with a mix of ale yeast, wine yeast, and brettanomyces. Notes of black pepper and pineapple can be found in this beer.

Cloudy glowing yellow, light foamy head. Smells like black pepper, barnyard. Tastes light and refreshing, with a peppery funk that is complex but not out in front. Just right.

Bottle. Pours clear golden with big white head. Nose is a lot of Brett and Saaz. Maybe a little pineapple. Taste is also Brett with some pepper and candy. Refreshing. Dry aftertaste.

tap@Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014 - fuzzy yellow pour with white head. Fruity citrus aroma and taste, lemon, mandarin, other barnyard fruity notes, bretty, some herbal and floral nuances as well. Really Liked this

Bottle via Chad – thanks! Huge gusher caught me off guard… frantic run to the sink to salvage just about a full goblet from the 500ml bottle. Lots of sediment and haze, sort of a golden orange color topped with a monster white head. Nose is mild, rather typical farmhouse elements of yeast, grain, florals, and faint tropical fruit. Extremely soft feel for the high carbonation. Light grain, earthy bits, and florals. Has a very light spice presence. Easy drinker, soft, not as defined as some of the other Prairie ales I’ve tried.

Golden orange with a finger of fluffy white head. Smell is slightly tart fruit, funk, barnyard, citrus, vanilla, caramel. Taste is hoppy citrus with a very light fruit tart, some vanilla caramel sweetness. Smooth easy to drink with good flavors. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750 mL bottle from Bieropholie, served cool in a tulip glass shared with a buddy. Milky bright golden with a thin, frail white head. Quite pungent, funky citrus, green bitter herbs, peppery, zingy, spicy, quite funky, light wheat notes, certainly has character. Medium body, restrained, creamy effervescence. More friendly and less funky than the nose, esters, toasted wheat, still fairly funky though with bitter green herbs; dry with gentle bitterness and a really friendly malty, ester finish. Nice stuff.

When I first poured this into my glass it produced a full glass of a foamy head. In about 5 minutes I had some liquid. The appearance is a hazy light golden yellow with a ton of head. Aroma is kind of sour nothing you’d want to sniff a lot of. Sort of like dirty socks. Taste is well much better than the foam and smell. It is bitter yet slightly sweet. I pick up some pepper and citrus a little pineapple. Not really sour but acidic like. Palate is kind of thin and with all the head not overly carbonated. Overall it is worth trying if you never had it but not one I’d got out of my way to buy.

Bought bottle from Crown Liquors in Indy and poured into a snifter a cloudy lemon with a massive white head that almost overflowed the glass then settled into a nice pillow top. Aroma is citrusy funk burlap bready. Flavor is crazy! Got sweetness right off the top which amazingly worked with this Saison. A bit spicy some barnyard definitely got the pineapple. Carbonated highly and well balanced with the flavors on the palate. More sweet than I am used to with this style. This was my first Prairie Brew of which I have been hearing great things and was not disappointed. The hype is right on. This saison is outstanding! LOVE this brew & will easily seek out another bottle.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; clear straw yellow pour with a massive fluffy white head wild aggressive carbonation forced the cork as soon as the cage came off, taste has citrus and spice and some tangerine, elements of funk, some malt action.
