COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Prairie Ale is our classic saison. We brew this beer with pilsner malt, wheat malt, flaked wheat, and cane sugar. A healthy dose of saaz hops are used to add a spicy element to the beer. Prairie Ale is fermented with a mix of ale yeast, wine yeast, and brettanomyces. Notes of black pepper and pineapple can be found in this beer.

Pours a hazy blonde color with a good sized fluffy white head that is well retained and leaves a nice lacing on the glass.

The aroma is hay, light bubblegum, some yeasty rising dough, & light lemon peel. It’s earthy and funky but that’s not the dominant character of the nose really.

The flavor is a nice balance between fruity characters of mild banana and bright citrus contrasted with a dry, earthy, limestone-y and lightly tart character.

The palate is lively & Champagne like.

Maybe this high a rate is indicative of the right beer at the right moment, but man this was satisfying at that particular moment.

Rated on 7-27-2013. This bottled beer pours a medium sized white head that mostly diminished, one ring of lacing, hazy body, fast rising carbonation, and a pale yellow hue. The Aroma is malty, wheat, yeasty, spicy, earthy, semi-sweet, and some pineapple. The Taste is that of some sweetness, some grapefruit, malt, wheat, yeast, and spicy. The Palate is tingly and this is a medium bodied Saison. Overall, this beer is quaffable and worth trying.

750 ml. Hazy golden pear color with a lasting creamy foam and beautiful lacing. Nose is funky brett, citrus and resin. Tastes of fresh citrus with the peppery zest, dry funky yeast, light toast, white wine, beeswax, fresh cut grass and resin. Medium body is balanced with a mostly smooth carbonation.

Yellow beer with a large foamy head. Floral and spicy nose with some hints of soap. Light spritzy mouth feel with lots of carbonation. Some funky yeast notes with bitter orange peel, spice and a bitter finish with some more soap and old lemons. Interesting saison.

On tap at Capone’s, Norristown. Cloudy light gold pour, vibrant carbonation as befits the style. Very dry nose, with light spice, dry hops, and just a hint of the funk that will surely develop over time. Lots of yummy herbal notes in the taste, and they meld well with the understated vinous and funk notes. None of these additions overtake the very solid base saison. Hope the rumors of widespread Prairie distro are true, as I’d love to try more.

Bottle from bottlecraft. Pours hazy gold with ample frothy white head. Aroma is full of citrus, pepper, a little funk, wheat, bubblegum. Smells awfully inviting. Taste - tropical, juicy, bitter finish, almost no sweetness. Lively carbonation, light mouthfeel, dry, lightly bitter and mineral finish. Overall: this is great. Wish I could share it at a tasting, but I'd already sat on it for months and it was calling to me. Look forward to trying pretty much anything from these folks. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750 ml. corked and caged bottle. As soon as I removed the cage, the cork popped out. Beer was tired of being in the bottle. Golden, cloudy yellow with a massive foamy head. Aromas of yeast, bread, hay, citrus, spice and malt. Slightly acidic, but so balanced. This is a winner.
