COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Prairie Ale is our classic saison. We brew this beer with pilsner malt, wheat malt, flaked wheat, and cane sugar. A healthy dose of saaz hops are used to add a spicy element to the beer. Prairie Ale is fermented with a mix of ale yeast, wine yeast, and brettanomyces. Notes of black pepper and pineapple can be found in this beer.

Bottle from Star Grocery, Berkeley. Pours light golden with a large white head and a fruity aroma. There is a spicy fruit and light malt flavor with a bitter yeasty finish. Very refreshing.

Tap; flavor and aroma were not surprisingly dominated by yeast and brett elements. At times too much of a bandaid like flavor emerged. Some tart elements.

Tap; a bit of a band aid flavor, probably from the brett and yeast. A good aroma that was herbal and bready. Some tart elements in the finish.

Gold pour with a white head. Nose is tart, grass, lemon, yeast, earth, and brett. Very smooth on the palate, heavily carbonated, brett, yeast, spice, lightly tart, and fresh grass.

Pours hazy gold with a bubby white head that, surprisingly for a Belgian style, dissipates rapidly. The aroma is very earthen, stony, musty, dirt-like, but clean. On the palate its superficially fizzy, but winds up being more refreshing than anything else. The flavor is wooden, banana, yeasty, earthy goodness. The finish makes you pucker a little bit, and this beer comes off a little stronger than it is, but in a completely smooth way. Very complex and good. Definitely something to be savored and not rushed.

Hazy orangish with a dense white head. Aroma of pepper, peach, citrus, bread, and Belgian yeast. A little sweet and funky with a nice hop presence. Quite good.

Bottle at Stone Sour Fest 2013. Pours a cloudy gold, with a white head. Crackery cereal malt, lime, stone fruit, grass, Belgian yeast, peppery spice, and mild brett. Good, but not amazingly so.
