Prairie Ale is our classic saison. We brew this beer with pilsner malt, wheat malt, flaked wheat, and cane sugar. A healthy dose of saaz hops are used to add a spicy element to the beer. Prairie Ale is fermented with a mix of ale yeast, wine yeast, and brettanomyces. Notes of black pepper and pineapple can be found in this beer.

Bottle at a bottle share. Pours a cloudy orange-tan color. Nose is sour and funk with some good farm and hay elements to it. Taste is slightly sour with a lot of farmhouse notes and a lot of earthiness. Feels light and smooth, actually.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours hazy golden with a thick white cap on top which sits for the duration. Nose has a healthy dose of bretty funk in there with loads of lemon curd, musk and bright citric zest. Taste is very lemon focused with dry musk, slightly earthy, very brett forward and curdled citrus. Really tasty and dry. Cracker

500mL bottle BB 13215? Presents a big persistent fluffy white head atop a lively, somewhat hazy straw yellow body. Decent intensity of aroma, very typical Saison characters; white pepper & clove phenolics, cut hay, floral herbal hops, cereally malts, light fruitiness & a touch of barnyard/vinegar as it warms. Lively but finely beaded carbonation, body is dry, seemingly light, deceptively so. Plenty to enjoy on the palate - lemon peel, husky cereals, hay, cut grass, apricot, pepper, white vinegar, bit of soft cheese character in there too. Finishes dry, decent bitterness, lingering spice & grassiness. Excellent example of the style, well made, good stuff.

Fat på Mikkeller Bar. Grumlig ljusgul vätska. Doftar som ett kryddigt vitt vin. Jättebra blandning av sötma, krydda och strävhet.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a healthy looking golden yellow to orange with a fair brown color in the center of the beer. The head was about a finger’s worth of soft white foaminess that dissipated gently to leave a gentle strings of lacing. The smell started off with a black pepper and light spicy connotation of the hop content. There’s a nice sweet grassy quality with a light lemongrass coming in. The taste was smooth and sweet with a decent light spiciness to enliven my taste buds. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was somewhat sharp but still a decent smoothness rolling around on my tongue. Overall, this was a very good offering from a pretty stellar company.

UPDATED: AUG 31, 2014 Bomber to glass. Very interesting beer and probably best saison I have had? Barnyard, hay, slight citrus, and pepper. Huge white foamy head. Taste is similar to aroma with some light tartness. Nice brew

Wow! Well I think I’ve discovered one of my new favorite breweries! Seriously...I’ve bought 4 items from Prairie and this is the first one I’m drinking...a hint of butter and barnyard straw on the nose. Oh so light and tasty. Vaporizes on the palate almost. Pepper up front mixed with straw and a hint of dirt...buttery brett pineapple in the middle...the faint funk towards the back...and 30 seconds later a sour mash flavor. Brilliant work here. Brilliant...

500ml bottle thanks to Darrel. Pours out a hazy pale straw topped with a small head. Nose is funk barnyard horse blanket and some spice. Taste is as the nose with the barnyard and some citrus notes.

Blasting cherry pie Brett aroma as soon as you pop the cap. Also the beer comes blasting out as well as this is massively carbed. Huge pillowy lacy head. Nice golden color. Big cherry aroma from the glass with some sweet fruit as well. The horsey earthy Brett flavor dominates along with some peppery notes. Hints of tropical fruit come out more as it warms. Love Brett, love this beer.

Bottle thanks to Casey. Pours a cloudy yellow with large white frothy head that leaves good sticky lacing. The aroma is strong yeast, funk, brett. Medium mouthfeel with nice wheat, brett, oak, and light dry finish. Very good.
